i'm not gonna lie it doesn't look all that different. I don't think it should really matter though, it's gonna be a blast.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Halo 3 is a lot crisper. The textures, guns, and even the Spartans look a lot more detailed. It's not the graphical jump I had hoped for, but it doesn't look bad.

Its not really a huge jump is it? You can see where they changed it but its not nearly as good as I had hoped.

Yes, it looks better than Halo2 but... not what I would expect after GoW.

Yeah, Gears of War is going to make Halo 3 look much worse, IMO.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I think some people were expecting Gears of War graphics (or better for Halo 3 considering it's hype) but to have Gears of War's level of detail, etc, in a Halo game which is much more faster moving and has a lot more characters in multiplayer would have been difficult. I think there would have been serious framerate issues especially considering your character and camera seems to move extremely fast compared to Gears of War. Maybe in 2-3 years when the console is mastered by developers such a thing might be possible, but not now.

I think it comes down to draw distance, really. In what GoW map do you climb up on a ledge and snipe from 1/2 a mile away?

Because, in a game like Halo, that's one of the main aspects of the game. Some of the maps are huge and sacrifices have to be made to do it.

With that said, I hope they add some AA to the final version.

This is the beta, and people forget that the last few months of a games development is where things really come together - especially graphics. Furthermore, the multiplayer is always going to look considerably worse than the single player, and this is true f practically every game. So far I've been more impressed with the graphics than I expected. Things are definitly superior to Halo 2, not to mention it plays far better.

I've seen pre-alpha builds of games on the PS3 that look better than this, namely Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Halo 3 will sell phenomenally well since it is a Halo game, and I have not played in the Beta so the gameplay may be phenomenal, but these graphics are quite a let down considering how much Microsoft has touted this game.
