- during a round-table conversation, AMD’s CEO Lisa Su talked reducing cost of chip production and how that gives a chance for consoles to get price drops:

“The consoles work on a five to seven year strategy, that’s the lifetime for these consoles,” said Su.

“Without talking about any particular party’s console – there will be opportunities to cost-reduce.

“Consoles tend to be very sensitive to price point, we see that as price comes down console [sales] volume goes up, and that will afford an opportunity to do that in this cycle.”

Could that opportunity come soon?

Well.. yeah? I mean we've already had price drops for both consoles. Heck even multiple ones for one of them.

We most certainly will. Ps4 will definitely get down to $199 and eventually I imagine they'll have a $149 sku.

so a price for a product can go down in the not so far future? That's crazy!
