Most probably it won't have 3D to cut costs. I like the 3D effect (I almost always use it), but I can live without it.

It's just not worth having to stay in an exact position otherwise your screen clouds up, which can be crucial in games like Mario Kart and Smash. It's also not necessary for any game, and with it jacking up the cost, I do believe they're better off without it. |
Clearly you've never used a New 3DS.

The New 3DS is what you want. The 3D there is really good and you can move the system without loosing 3D. It is a total different feeling/experience than with the old 3DS.
If the 3DS had this feature at launch people had been much more impressed with the 3D.

I have a N3DS, hell I'm playing New Leaf on it as I type this. While better there is still flickering and ghosting thus I remain 3D-less 99% of the time.
The 3D is great, I always use it. I'm better at jumping platforms in Mario 3D Land and aiming shells in Mario Kart 7 due to the added depth and distance perception. I mean, going back to a console, the difference is really noticeable.
While it's not crucial and won't be a dealbreaker, I would be bummed if it doesn't return. I hope the next system, at least the handheld, supports 3D.

You are my hero.
OP: No. I hope no. I can play my games without 3D. Useless feature. I prefer they focus on new tech.
