Restricted and repetitive interests and behavior

People with Asperger syndrome display behavior, interests, and activities that are restricted and repetitive and are sometimes abnormally intense or focused. They may stick to inflexible routines or rituals, move in stereotyped and repetitive ways, or preoccupy themselves with parts of objects.[13]

Pursuit of specific and narrow areas of interest is one of the most striking features of AS.[1] Individuals with AS may collect volumes of detailed information on a relatively narrow topic such as dinosaurs or deep fat fryers, without necessarily having genuine understanding of the broader topic.[1][3] For example, a child might memorize camera model numbers while caring little about photography.[1] This behavior is usually apparent by grade school, typically age 5 or 6 in the U.S.[1] Although these special interests may change from time to time, they typically become more unusual and narrowly focused, and often dominate social interaction so much that the entire family may become immersed. Because topics such as dinosaurs often capture the interest of children, this symptom may go unrecognized.[3]

I think that a lot of people, usually men, have a low level fascination, or obsession, with numbers and statistics, for example, baseball fans, how much of the enjoyment of baseball is the sport itself or the statistics that surround it?

That is an extremely limited scope of what Asberger's really is and it takes more than someone meeting one or two of those requirements to qualify for the disorder.

My wife has her masters in psychology and works 40 hours a week with autistic children. If you really want to know if you have the disorder or not, go to a qualified psychologist and get tested for a disorder. You shouldn't even be able to request the specific tests for asberger's for it will taint the results. Self-diagnosis is a very, very bad thing.

I have Asperger's Syndrome, but I have a slight degree (it's barely noticeable) of it.

I watched a movie/documentary on that dude...something titled The Boy with the Amazing Brain, or something like that.  He learned to speak Icelandic in a week and went on a talk show in Iceland and spoke to the hosts in Icelandic. That was amazing. I remember the PI thing as well........took 6-7 hrs for him to say it, and they had 5-6 people checking while he was reciting. I would reccommend watching this movie/documentary. He's a pretty humble guy, which suprised me.

 Damn, beat me to it.

Yeah, a lot of people love to say they have Asberger's because it's apparently cool since hackers may have it.

Aspergers isn't a good thing, it's a low level form of autism, at least that's what I have been told.

I have an obsession for numbers and order, but it is more of an OCD thing

What is Assburgers?

Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000

I always thought aspergers was more of a social disorder, a few friends of mine that were diagnosed with aspergers have very strange social habbits, and they're usually really shy or anti-social.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

It is a minor form of autism. It is bad. It's very bad. It makes simple day-to-day life difficult and any type of a relationship with others is often strained and awkward.

It's a shitty thing to have and if you've ever seen anyone who legitimately has it, it fucking sucks. It's not some cute Raymond Babbit bullshit where you can count toothpicks on the floor when a box drops. Many people with it never end up living a productive life as a member of society.
