I don't see why it would be to Capcom's dissadvantage to make a Wii version considering the entirety of the RE franchise is already invested in Nintendo.
The most I could hope for was a later release of the Wii version with extra content to offset lesser graphics.
Unfortunately Resident Evil isn't a first person shooter, and it took more than three ports to break 5m, and I don't know why people think its a bigger franchise than Devil May Cry when...
RE4 GC - 1.6m (instal base 15-21m)
RE4 PS2 - 2.5m (instal base 80-120m)
RE4 Wii - 1.6m (instal base 6-23m)
DMC4 360 - 1m and growing (instal base 16-17m)
DMC4 PS3 - 1m and growing (instal base 10-11m)
Unless you're putting RE5 on the PS2 you'll see maybe a total of 3m units total sold between the PS3 and 360. Remember, this isn't the same team who made RE4, this isn't the same director, its a different game. Don't expect another game of the year, expect a small step up from DMC4.
The OP probably doesn't play the RE games, nor has anyone who thinks this its a franchise on par with games like Assassin's Creed which exploits the 'old stuff is cool' trend in Western pop culture. Call of Duty is a cultural phenomenon of Modern War games, First Person Shooters and brilliant online multiplayer, Resident Evil isn't, at least not since the days of the Playstation back when simply being 3D + Guns was all it took to sell. Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon in Sand Box Gaming and social rebellion, Resident Evil is a linear story telling game whose selling point thus far is shooting black people, excessive A.I. and amazing over the top uncanny valley graphics. I'm sorry, but if a games selling point is going to be that it goes above and beyond all the others in graphics and stats, there is plenty to worry about, especially since games like that tend to dissapear into the fog as the next best thing comes along. Let us also not forget that the magic which was behind its predicessor is is no longer in the company.
Your best bet is to hope that there are enough gullable 'game-a-week' American 360 gamers to pick up any game that looks, "totally sick dude!" or enough desperate PS3 owners that want a graphical masterpiece to make them feel the PS3's excess was worth it (all the while trying to justify the 360 version by telling themselves they got the better one).
It's only a sore point for the Wii fans, not because we think this will be the next Game of the Year, but because we have every other RE game either on the Wii or GC and RE4 on the Wii showed anyone who played it that the Wii controls are the way to go for Resident Evil games. It's just a waste in our eyes to see a franchise jump consoles under such circumstances.
