Console games getting ported to PC, of course. With MS bringing the similar architecture philosophy, porting to PC has become very easy. There is no reason no to have a pc version of game these days.

Gaming PCs apparently are 2.5% of total - http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs12053-015-9371-1 A lot of people game on PCs, yeah, but play Minecraft or Counter Strike on Intel HD Graphics or GeForce 210s from standard office or commercial computers. Even on Steam, which reunites a dedicated market of PC gamers, the "low end" prevails. Not quite exactly the hardcore market that is often compared to consoles! I play on PC BTW. |
2.5% isn't as bad as one can think, as this includes every PC in offices and the like. And considering the 2.5% consume about 20% of the total energy need of computers according to the article, it's pretty clear they don't mean computers with onboard or entry level graphics.
Too bad Steam hardware survey doesn't seem to be available right now, but yeah, entry-level cards and iGPs make a ~15% chunk of the whole Steam hardware stats as far as I can remember. Most of them probably on Ultrabooks and used for CS or other older/less demanding games. Curiously, Minecraft looks rather dead on Steam, it's not even charting unless I overlooked it: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/?

Those IPs would have died down without consoles. Like FIFA, for example, or CoD.

FiFA's biggest market is Germany, where PC gaming has always been strong. I don't think they would have died on PC, but less users than they have now with multiple supports would have been the case for sure.
CoD, as it is, however would have possibly gone the way of the Dodo, as there is much bigger concurrence on PC for the game. On the other hand, BlOps III, and BlOps II, MW2 and MW3 Multiplayer are all charting on Steams Top 100 right now. I just don't think they could keep it annualized if there was just the PC platform

Wow to the OP. For a person that doesnt care much about PC gaming your sure doing alot lately to paint it in a bad light. Even going as far as to seek out a obscure foreign article that has nothing to do with the gaming side of the PC industry, But yet try to use it to make the gaming side look like its doing bad. Some key points that you missed in your article.

Nothing is made up, you can google the same articles in english. I made an other thread in the past predicting that PC gaming will shrink in europe over console gaming dueto a low euro, and i had another article stating that German PC gamers switch to the PS4. I will continiue to make threads like these if i find more information since everyone rediculate my original prediction. It has nothing to do with me hating on PC gaming
Stronger US dollar is hurting every hardware bussines including PC components
hopefully we keep getting more games and less season passes!
