Johnny Gioeli: “[Crush 40] Might Participate In Writing New Songs for Sonic Anniversary Game”

Crush 40’s Sonic game drought might be coming to an end. Might be.

Singer Johnny Gioeli had a couple of things to announce on his official Facebook pagerelated to Sonic’s 25th anniversary when responding to fan questions left on his page:

When will there be news about the Crush 40 album?
~We are planning a few performances for 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of Sonic. We “might” participate in writing new songs for the anniversary game…stay tuned…

Crush 40 fans already have a reason to be excited this year with a new album coming. This may very well be the icing on the cake.

#1 NEW YEARS

In about 6 hours we will be kicking off to 2016!!!, but more importantly SONICs 25th Anniversary. I am completely excited and long overdue for a Sonic game. No I am not buying Boom 2. I thought it would be cool to have a thread following the news thats surely to come untill the next reveal. Lets start off on what we already know.

A - NEXT SONIC WILL BE CLASSIC INSPIRED

- 2 days ago at the Sonic give thanks new years party thingy, the official 25th Anniversary Logo was revealed by SEGA. To no ones surprise it is Classic inspired,  but what is slightly interesting is that it is a exact rendition the title screen to the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

- The Sonic community at this point already expects the next Sonic game to be entirely 2D Classic style. lots of eveidence to support this:

“SEGA has publicly apologised to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years. It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday.”

- Next Tommy figures. 

- Tommy specifically asked for ONLY Classic inspired toys for its which all have the 25th anniversary logo on them.

B- THIS RENDER OF SONIC HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH NEXT SONIC.

- There’s something very special about this art but it’s not actually anything hidden inside of it 

though we hid details on the next Sonic game on the inside of the pumpkin but since you can’t actually see that 
we’ll give you a hint as to what makes this sweet piece even cooler than normal 
it’s not about what you see…it’s about who created it!

After some digging by the community, this Render was done some guy who does the renders for Archie Sonic comics......

C - SONIC REVEAL WILL PROBABLY BE AT SONIC ADVENTURE MUSIC EXPERIENCE

- At first everbody thought it was Jan 4, 2016, but now its looking like its April 1,2016 the Same day that the SONIC ADVENTURE MUSIC EXPERIENCE that officially will kick off the 25th Anniversary.

I Wouldn't mind a sequel, and I mean SEQUEL, to the classics but I dread the CONTRA 4 effect or Nostalgia pandering. Had enough of it.

Great April fools day. Worst day in the gaming industry :(

Remember, in Japan April is usually is the start of a new fiascal year. This definitely so for SEGA. Also, I dont April fools is a thing in Japan. 

I would be up for a good classic 2D.5 sonic game with good physics. Sonic doesn't have to be in 3D to be good. In fact, I think he shines in 2D games. In no way do I want SEGA to copy off of New Super Mario Bros. but I do want them to return Sonic to his roots and quit confusing people with bad stories and characters. New Super Mario Bros. had the worst story ever but it sold over 25 Million copies or something. People just want to have fun, and imo 3D sonic isn't fun.

I'll be following this.

I was so excited with Sonic Generations. It was so damn good and yet it's still been downhill for the franchise since then yet again.

I want to believe but I dunno...

CONTRA 4 was a Solid game, but for a sequel it did absolutely nothing to advance the series forward. It was pretty much pick best shit from CONTRA 1-3 and throw it into a new game. No ambition. Thats what I'm scared of if they go back to classic.

True but this news will be known in North America so you know some assholes will be using this as an oppritunity to troll the heck out of ppl. 

I can see it already. "Sonic adventure 3 coming to PS4/XB1 holiday 2016!!!" Or "Sega announces return to hardware as Dreamcast 2 shocks the world!" lol

Oooooooooooh. Definitely. 

25 years already? Time flies! I didn't play much of the original Sonic games, but Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast was one of my favorites back in the day. I never got around to Sonic Adventure 2, though....
