Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Supply!

As I'm browsing through a couple of stores Toys R Us and Target, taking my kids to spend their gift cards they got from Gramps. I notice the massive amount of short supply of games at these stores and Wii U Hardware was not to be found. Splatoon,Smash, Xenoblade, Mario Maker Sold out; Toad, Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Mario Tennis with only a few left. Mario Kart was the only one still had a healthy amount.

So with that said looks like Nintendo, at least in US, is starting to pick up momentum and I'm glad to see it.

My fellow Nintendo supporters are you seeing the same thing in your area?

I'm definitley seeing a lot of it here ( Saskatoon,Saskatchewan) . I think the Nintendo has done very well in my city and surrounding area in 2015. I remember when Splatoon came out I went the next morning to go pick one up at Wal mart and they had none out there, I assumed they just didn't put them out so I asked an employee and he told me they got 35 in and they were all gone before the store closed. He laughed and told me he thought they would still have 30 copies two months after they first got them. It took me eight stores trying local shops and chain stores till I finally found a copy a couple days later.

This Christmas a lot of the really big titles are sold out at stores ( lots of infity 3.0 and lego dimensions though).Today definitly no Mario Maker at any store i went to and some were sold out of Xenoblade,Splatoon and Smash.

Well in the holiday season games in general sell very well so yes the wii u did sell but obviously not as great as the ps4 or xbox one nintendo needs to try to sell as many wii u systems as they can before the nx drops.

Yep! Thats their job now!

- Sell as much as Wii U as they can! And not worry about the competition

- Continue to please the current Wii U Owners with some great tittles.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Xenoblade x was sold out in my local media markt (germany) before Xmas, not sure how many copies they had, but for reference when Fatal Frame 5 Limited Edition dropped they had 5 copies. Anyway I asked the lady cos I though they must have stocked xenoblade cos it was a well advertised game, she said nope all sold out but we getting another 12 copies in 2 days. I was quite impressed.

Actually for all the naysayers that just to like to come in a drop negative comments without any major reason why. Last year WiiU hardware was hard to find but games still weren't selling and games were always on the shelves this year games are cleared out. The gap in the US isn't as big as it is the EU. I think these two weeks will surprise a few.

This kind of stuff though is going to have me write a nice suggested thread for this website

Dude, you need to chill. No one is hating on Nintendo, they are just saying to not read too much into things. Maybe Ninty sold well, maybe retailers didn't stock much, who knows.

Just as its annoying for you to deal with haters and critics, it's annoying for others to be bombarded with "omg Nintendo is doing so well because one store sold out!!!!!"

I'm just glad that more people than ever get to experience all the great games on Wii U. The actual numbers are kinda pointless when you see the kids laughing and having fun with Nintendo games.

Yeah I'm not the one for numbers being that there are so many outlets now with tablets and mobile games. Would I like it to sell better, of coarse, but as long as I know the WiiU games are th best, besides a few here and there on other consoles, I'm fine.

So you're looking for false hope instead of realistic likelihood? I mean seriously, Christmas just happened, stores keep Nintendo stuff in low stock, of course things are gonna be sold out and Wii U's momentum is higher than normal. This surprises no one. Now if the Wii U were to somehow maintain this momentum through January and February, then we'd have something to talk about, but with no Wii U games releasing in those months, that's extremely unlikely.

Could be not much stock was there to begin with.

Where I live, the 3ds is the only nintendo seller, system and games, normally. The last month, the wiiu has been cleared out. I went to pick up xenoblade, gone, everywhere. The system was gone too. I've never seen it before.
I know you're not looking for "false hope" or anything like that. I'm assuming you've experienced what most have, that the wiiu was never out of stock, or its games, any year, or anytime of year. That's been my experience with it too. Until this year.
Does this mean the wiiu is coming back? No. But, it does show that the public is willing to buy a nintendo console, even if it's this failed system.
I believe it gives nintendo fans hope, and nintendo too. I did laugh pretty good at some comments thoigh, like, well it didn't sell like the ps4 and x1, lol. Nobody was implying that. So just stop. It's a question about how it's doing in your respective area, that's all.

From my experiance.... its just low stock in stores to begin with.
I went to a few shops looking for a few games for the wii u, and I noticed how small the space (area wise) they gave the Wii U is.

Even the 3ds doesnt get much space here, in denmark.

Most stores here only have like 2 rows on shelves for the wii u games.
While for playstation 4 they have atleast 6 times that much.

Why shops dont stock more wii u games Im not sure.
