I can understand why it didn't do well. I mean come on. Games are recreation nobody wants to play a work of art. Besides it didn't look very fun. In the end a bit too much furor for a port of a 2006 game that didn't do well.

What?  I only want to play works of art.  That's why I'm such an elitist asshole when it comes to games.

Only if and when the Wii gets RE5 will the Wii ever be vindicated, and as time passes, that looks less and less likely. Don't confuse wringing more money from last gen ports and niche games for a developers confidence. Don't get me wrong either, I want to believe this is as good as news as you all want it to be too, but I can't help but be skeptical. If this generation has made me anything, its made me jaded.

Also, we've known Rice Paper texturing would be in the game for at least two months now if not longer. This revelation was made known in the same thread which made Onna67 leave the site in frustration. All these allegations that things would be missing from the Wii version (Content, Music, graphics, texturing) were all made by naysayers across the internet and as those rumors spread had to be directly adressed by Capcom. It's really sad to see people so desperately try to kill the hype for a game.

Onna76 hasn't left.

Onimusha obviously actions speak louder than words, but Capcom's actions are very positive. They've given the Wii some incredible games, and exclusivity to their biggest Japanese franchise. They just promised continued support of any franchises that sell well and a bunch of new content.

There is a difference between skepticism and downright pessimism. You are fairly far in the latter category. Skepticism is not trusting Square Enix who hasn't shown any real support yet. Not quite the same deal with Capcom.

When is the last time you've seen Capcom put up commercials for any of their Wii games? Don't you notice how they let the Wii community dance like clowns to try and advertise their games for them on the internet instead of putting any real money into advertising.

Oh boy, great games comming to the Wii?

- Zack & Wiki: There's a stellar success.

- RE4 Wii: A Port, there's a confident investment

- RE UC: Be nice if they at least tried to hide the seems that were holding that made-in-a-week game together.

- Okami: Another Port, way to go, so the Wii is where Capcom's last gen games go to get a second chance. Capcom isn't even doing it themselves, they're passing it off to someone else. There's an investment!

- Monster Hunter 3 Tri: I would care if I was Japanese.

- Oh and Okami 2 in the future? Great, I'm sure it will be great considering Clover has been disolved.

- And rumors of a RE0 remake? Wow, another port. How could anyone say Capcom isn't giving the Wii serious support.

I can't get enough of how people naysay the RE5 Wii petition with, "oh we'd rather have new or fresh game for the Wii, not ports" then they turn around and tell me we're suppossed to be excited about this handful of rehashes?

And don't ya' just love how all these lucritive grave-robbing projects for the Wii are being used to pay for the development of real, NEW, games like Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5 which unlike any of the Wii games get actual advertising on television and in magazines that aren't Nintendo Power.

But what do I know, I'm just a pessimist, unable to appreciate the scraps I'm being fed and should just blindly tell myself everything is just fine and will be fine. Show me a massive project like DMC4 or RE5 comming to the Wii then I'll change my tune, until then I see nothing but pocket change projects half of which are games which have already made their money back.

I'm not trying to derail the thread or kill anyone's love for Okami, I want this game bad! I'm just defending my stand on the matter of Capcom's questionable support of the Wii. I know I'm skeptical and even down right pessimistic, but I feel I have damn good ground to be such on. Tell me this, how many more tests must the Wii pass before they give us real games? And I say real games, because what else would the Wii need to pass a test for? What is our prize if the Wii passes these tests Capcom is laying out if these are already your definition of cream of the crop games?

angry game rant

I thought about responding to each game in your list, but instead I'm just going to cover these two.

Zack & Wiki - It's a fantastic game. I don't see what the sales has to do with it (which I might add, haven't been that bad at all for that game). So why are you trying to denegrade such an awesome game?

RE UC: It's a great game.  It's a great game that makes perfect use of the Wiimote and it was also one of the earlier announcements for a third party Wii title.

Those two titles alone would describe a company that really gets the Wii and is giving it attention. But in just over a year they've made not just those two great games, but also have a dramatically improved port of one of the best games of the last gen, and are about to release a port of a game many regarded as the game of the year.

And yes, it is an investment. It's not just a straight port as it was a different dev team rewritting the game!

Capcom is giving the Wii fantastic support.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I love Zack & Wiki too, but its not on the level of appeal or sales such as games like DMC4 or RE5. Maybe if they put money into advertising or actually pushing the damn game it would have sold numbers that it deserved.

I love REUC too, but its a sloppy game and its hasty development shows.

Capcom is giving the Wii ok support, but its hard not to be upset by the fact they're all last gen ports and rehashes, its hard not to be upset when you see the NEW BIG PROJECTS going to the 360 and PS3. It's hard not to be upset when the Wii games get no tV commercials whatsoever or Magazine hype two years in advance.

The money being put into the 360 and PS3 games far outweighs those going to the Wii's. Advertising put into the 360 and PS3 games far outweighs the Wii's. Has Capcom said that the PS3 or 360 need to pass any tests? Because they've said the Wii has to.

I love the games Capcom is putting on the Wii, I just wish it was getting the cream of the crop that Capcom is saving for the HD consoles.

Yes, Capcom is giving the Wii fantastic support, if your argument is that the Wii is the little hand-me-down straggler of this generation.

I'm sorry man, but you're just way too jaded.

You complain about Okami 2 being a bad idea without Clover but you're all for Resident Evil 5 without Mikami and his studio? Double standards much?

Then you say "I would care if I was Japanese" to Monster Hunter, as if it's not a big deal just because it doesn't match your personal preferences. What gives you the right to apply your opinion to a game and suddenly write it off as crappy support? It's Capcom's single biggest Japanese franchise... get over yourself.

You also completely forgot their We Love Golf game, a ground up golf game with online play and Capcom characters developed to take advantage of the Wiimote. Oh but wait, you'll just say "Hah, sports games" like you did with Monster Hunter.

As far as advertising, what PS3 and 360 games have they advertised? Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4, and Dead Rising are all I can think of, and advertisement for every one of those was paid by Microsoft.

Not to mention every single game you're complaining about not coming to the Wii began development literally a year or more before the Wii was even announced, much less became a success!

The worst part is complaining about Zack & Wiki. The very idea of complaining that we didn't have Devil May Cry instead makes me sick... if Zack & Wiki instead of Devil May Cry is what you call the "hand-me-down" support then hell yes I hope the Wii stays "hand-me-down."

I'd honestly take Capcom's Wii development over their PS3 and 360 development any day. It fits my tastes as a gamer infinitely better. Please let Capcom ignore you and keep making games like this.

I like how you only choose what you want to respond to. What of almost all the games the Wii is recieving being ports? Zack & Wiki, sure, its new, but it also didn't take very long to make, I don't know why you people are so in love with the game that has barely any replay value. And Monster Hunter? No one in the West cares about Monster Hunter, do you care about it? Is it in your top ten?

Oh and how could I have left out a Golf game? That's the true merit of any console's success. Sorry, the games a developer puts on a console to show its support are the games that developer is putting the bulk of their money and top teir development teams behind. Everything that has been given to the Wii by Capcom thus far has been either outsourced to different companies or handled by the lower tier development teams at a bargain bin budget. The true merit of a developer's support is where they are putting their money, where are they putting their effort, where are they putting their big name flagship games... And that's not what Capcom is doing to the Wii. Sure Capcom is putting more games on the Wii, because they're all ports or low budget projects. So RE5 and DMC4 started development before the Wii? Well what has Capcom announced for the Wii on their level that will be comming out for it in the future?

You want Capcom to keep making games like this? Well their are plenty of last-gen games that could be ported to the Wii, so I suppose your wish could very well come true.

I feel I've made my point and you're certainly inclined to dissagree, but there's no point in taking this thread down the gutter anymore in my rants especially when its somewhat off-topic.

I have to agree with Onimusha12 that Capcom has not put the same resources into Wii support that the other systems have gotten.  (Although he's dead wrong on dismissing MH3 unless he's talking ONLY about Capcom in NA/EUR.  In which case he needs to clarify that he thinks that Capcom is adequately supporting the Wii in Japan.)

But Onimusha12, that ignores the fact that we the gamers have gotten fucking ridiculous mileage out of the resources that it did put towards the Wii.

It goes beyond pessimism to blindness if you look at the first point and ignore the second. Capcom is running out of awesome last-gen games begging for Wii ports, and then we'll get your "real" games.
