Forums - Gaming - PES08 a good buy?

I'm not a huge fan of soccer/football, but feel like giving it a shot. Is this my best bet, or should I go towards FIFA08? Because I heard the PS3 version has a LOT of problems. Oh, I am talking about PS3 by the way. I could get for Wii if both are shit, but I don't really like using it for these types of games.

The only football/soccer game I've played and really liked is International Superstar Soccer 64, which I still play today.

I'd prefer the version that is more arcade-like and has good co-op.

If you want arcade-like and co-op you're probably better off with Mario Strikers Charged, heh.

I've heard that FIFA is better on PS3 but PES2008 seems to be getting pretty good scores/interest on Wii.

I just picked up PES2008 for Wii and am instantly a fan. Best soccer/football controls I've ever used. Has depth, online without friend codes, and has reinvented the controls for this type of game with a quantum leap forward.

The Wii PES2008 is the game to get.

BAM! There it is!

Wii Code 3456 7941 4060 2924
COD MW Reflex 541192229709

the wii has the worst graphics, little better than PS2, as for the controls they are a lot different than previous. PES feels better with the Playstation controller and with those controls, atleast to a real fan of the series and pro player like me. Im playing the series since International Superstar Soccer (ISS days, the first game on PS). Anyway the game rocks. Controls dont have any problem on PS3 and the game looks beautiful, i havent seen the xbox version but im sure it looks and plays beautiful too.

What a fanboy bullshit...They all crap,m'kay.... all of them are not realistic enough(even in what you so call next-gen graphics), PS3 version just add some new skills(& framerate drop or weird bug), that's all.. Konami didn't put any effort on pushing hardware's graphics except Wii's one, but still they all suck at graphics....I will recommend you buy Wii's one PES2008, once you touch it, you will never goes back to any other platform.

It is really a next-gen gameplay, you will feel like God when you able to control almost every player on the field.

So go and buy(not rent) Wii's Version of PES2008 now!

P/s:If you have some more money & you are willing to spend, spend it on Xbox 360,for the rumble & better online gameplay...

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

Man u r a joke calling me a fanboy

Looks like u never played the game before, older versions that is. If its the first time u played the series then shame on you. The gameplay all those years made the series what it is today, changing that and the game is ruined. Im playing the series since 1996 fyi. I never said that the graphics of the game are state of the art, and yeah maybe they suck compered with fifa, but PS3/xbox graphics are better than the wii in this game and in all multiformat games. Do i say anything wrong here?

Ask urself who is the fanboy here

@ Aj_habfan )

most of the problems have been patched and in my opinion never were big enough to make the game less fun - I think it's a very good buy

and for gameplay, why don't you just try the demos, that are available at the PSN store to decide ,whether you like FIFA or PES better (note, that the demo of PES still has the "problems")

@ DKII, radioioRobert, macross )

why would you recommend the Wii version to someone, who doesn't seem to have a Wii ? seems stupid to me

the game is patched and it is lag free now

@audiomatic
high five!! yes PES2008's graphic may not look as sharp as fifa2008 but for those who love and understand soccer will know PES series always got the most realistic and correct soccer experience. The depth of strategy customization is no where FIFA is near. The personality of each unique footballer star are fully demonstrated by more than 20 football abilities like Post player, 1 tch pass, playmker, shooting from distance etc... Not like other football games speed is the only important factor for dribblers, but in PES the implementation of body balance and dribbling accuracy makes dribbling closer to real life.

In conclusion, true football fans should always play PES rather than FIFA, but for casual football gamer, alot of people find PES is very difficult, hard to score, hard to defend, so mayb u shoud try something else :)

OT says thet he could get the Wii version if both PS3 versions of Fifa and PES are crap.

PES08- Soccer? That sport is like watching paint dry.
