most of the problems have been patched and in my opinion never were big enough to make the game less fun - I think it's a very good buy
and for gameplay, why don't you just try the demos, that are available at the PSN store to decide ,whether you like FIFA or PES better (note, that the demo of PES still has the "problems")

why would you recommend the Wii version to someone, who doesn't seem to have a Wii ? seems stupid to me
