Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo port an enhanced version of Smash Wii U for NX?

I could see them re-release the game ala Last of Us and GTAV. However, additional DLC may be a stretch, considering that the DLC team will disband once February 2016 rolls on. Plus, Sakurai and his team needs a break at this point.

^This, I know the DLC team is only a fraction of the dev team for SSB, but they need to get to work on the next game. They are going to have some HUGE shoes to fill if they want to beat SB For Wii U. Good luck to them.

If anyone would have posted this roster over a year ago, everyone would have thought it was fake. (Disregard Wolf. I forgot to remove him.)

I was watching a video from Gamexplain, and they believe that Nintendo will port an enhanced version of this game to NX, and then continue to build on it.
Reason being, "It's only been out for a little over a year, and there's too much content to just throw away. Unless every third party character comes back for the next game, the roster will feel like a disappointment."

I have to agree with them here. If this was any other Smash game, and it hadn't only been out for little over a year, I wouldn't have thought so. But Nintendo put in a lot of work into this roster and the stages, and it would be a shame to see those guest character/stage deals come to an end so quickly.

If they make a port for the Wii U, I can see it coming with all the previous DLC on disc, enhanced graphics, and a continued effort to support the game with more DLC content down the line.

Since there was 6.5 years between Brawl and Smash 4, we could otherwise expect Smash 5 around 2021.

Smash 5 will release the same time as LoZ NX, please look forward to it.

I think you also forgot to take out Ice Climbers Hiku. They're not in the game either, sadly, haha...

I think an NX port is possible, if there isn't any BC for Wii U games on it... If it is ported, I think a complete game with DLC included is also possible.

Only thing I think they won't do is add even more to it on a NX version. From the sounds of it, it seems dlc for Smash is done, and I think it's better that way. Sakurai's done enough, and it would be good if he can move on to something else for awhile.

Seems like Sakurai will take a break from Smash for a while (he said he can't keep the smash team together forever, so the last DLC will be the end), so who knows how many years until Smash 5. In the meantime, a port could be made.
It was around 6.5 years between Smash Brawl and Smash 4. So if the pace is the same, expect Smash 5 in 2021.

Well, that's fine because I can still play on the Wii U if I need to :p

But, he definitely deserves a break, so it's not really a big issue if it comes out late in the next console's life..

You can, but that's roughly an 11m userbase at this point. And not everyone will still have, or play their WiiU when NX is out. That's part of the point Gamexplain were making about Nintendo throwing away such an ambitious project when it could have more sales on the NX, and potentially continue the DLC support even further.

The 3ds also has Smash. even compatible with New 3DS's controls. There is not a lack of userbase for Smash 4. Anyone who wants it can easily get it.

Iceclimbers aren't in the roster too.
and yes, I think Nintendo will make a launch port of Smash 4 so that fans can play it while they wait for smash 5

Or NX will be backwards compatible... Which is the more likely case.

Only if you have the WiiU addon.. But I think most people will only buy the VR addon.. And mayby the steam machine addon..

Well, it's more likely that people will just get the Matrix jack and just plug themselves into the game.

It isn't 100% shure that the NX will be BC, just very likely. plus a Collector's edition with all the DLC sold bundled with the NX (the price for the game would remain 60 or less due to it beeing 2 yo) would do miracles and would be extremely apreciated by fans that didn't buy a Wii U

It'd sure move a lot of units, but Nintendo is new to this amount of content as DLC... It'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

Asking a team to come in and try to do any enhancing on it though.... I don't see it at all. Mainly because for the most part it doesn't need enhancing.
