Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon will probably be biggest win for Nintendo this gen

100% agree. It's definitely the silver lining. what I really want to know is it this franchise will be bigger on their next handheld or their next console.

I agree, since I can't think of anything else at the moment

I think Amiibo may be a bigger win for Nintendo this gen, at least on the financial side. I mean, it's probably not a big win for gamers due to all of the supply issues, but it is definitely a big part of why Nintendo has been somewhat profitable this generation.

In terms of quality software, though, I agree that Splatoon is very near the top of that list. So I guess overall, considering all factors, Splatoon is probably the biggest win for Nintendo this gen. It was also the first game to force IGN to change their score, so that has to stand for something!

You are right about Amiibo if we look financial side, but for gamers point of view i think Splatoon is probably biggest win this gen.

It was definitively one of Nintendos big wins this generation.
I think if the WiiU had had Splatoon and Mario Maker in it's launch window we would be looking at a very diffrent console right now saleswise.

Their big win this gen was still having a viable handheld despite many claiming handheld consoles were finished.

3DS is another big one. It struggled in the beginning and if it was not for it, things may be different for Nintendo.

Well we really cant consider 3DS for big win if it sells LT 2x worse than previous handheld.

The change of society (Smartphones) have affected Nintendo greatly this gen.

Yes! I Agree with you there!

Pocky Lover Boy!

3 wins from Nintendo this gen:

1. Splatoon. They created a new sucessfull IP.
2. Amiibos. They sold a gazillion of these figurines
3. Handheld. It's not obviously as sucessfull as DS, but it manages to sell very well in an era where people were saying handhelds were doomed.

Well, 4 really, staying profitable in its worst era.

Tomodachi Life success in the west was another big win

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Hmm, with the reasons you give, Splatoon may be the biggest thing they did this gen, but they overall have done pretty well on their side. They also did really well with games like Smash Bros, MK8, Mario Maker, XCX, bringing over Fatal Frame 5, and overall handling dlc quite well.

Ninten may have not been successful with the Wii U, but with what they've done with it, Ninten has done some real good this gen. ; )
