They would have paid no more than they did for any other indie game like Resogun (if that's 3Rd party)  or Outlast.  

 

It's massive now but before they launched it on ps plus it wasn't a big deal.  That's what made it viral so it's a win for Sony and a win for Psyonix.

I can't say whether or not I think its deserved yet (still haven't booted it up on my PS4 xD;), but it seems like a fun pick up & play kind of game, glad to see it do well.

And you can add to that the tens of hundreds of dollars they will make on the X1 version!

And I'm gonna continue to buy every DLC they release. RL will get so much bigger and better over the course of next year. End of next year you will probably not even racognize it anymore.

I know people who say they've gotten $60 worth of play time and fun from this but because they got it for free on ps plus they buy all the DLC out of principle to support the dev!

Xb one release should be good for several million more in revenue.

I bought one pack of DLC because I got the game free off PSN+. Of course even though I got the game for no up front payment, Psyonix still gets a bit of money from each PSN+ download. Even if Sony just paid them $2 million for all the PSN+ downloads that covers their development costs and every actual sale is pure profit.
