The difference between Sony and Nintendo

Nintendo is concerned with whats the parents opinion about their kids playing their video games.

Sony wants to make the parents them selfs want to play.

I'm not so sure, how many typical soccer mom's do u know that would choose something like GTA over something like Mario Kart?

the average gamer is around 30 years old. so i would say a lot of parents actually game.

What does that have to do with what I said? If u were to ask the average mid-30s mother that has 2-3 kids under the age 10, what games she would personally choose, do u think she would pick the shooter/sports/racing/action games that are prevalent on Playstation or the platformer/puzzle/party/simulation games that are more prevalent on Nintendo devices?

if she is a core gamer? then most likely the shooter, sports, racing and action games. and i base that off of the sales of the genres and products. 

if she is a random 30's mother. she prefers candy crush and angry birds.

If a game was mechanically balanced, then it can enjoyed by everyone regardless of their age.

But not everyone shares this sentiment. Themes and asthetics are important, and apparently not everyone likes or appreciates what Nintendo does.
