This is my last chance to ask before we hear the seventh soundtrack, so I'd like to know where people stand. Ranking the films always winds up kind of boring, with most people saying 4/5 > 3/6 > 1/2, and the rest saying 1/2/3 > 4/5/6. I expect opinions on the soundtracks to be more evenly divided. Even the most ardent detractors of the prequels can't deny the majesty of Duel of the Fates, right? And how do fans who grew up on the prequels who don't care much for the originals feel about classics like The Asteroid Field?

How about a couple of examples from each film to kick things off?

Episode I: Duel of the Fates, The Droid Invasion

Episode II: Across the Stars, Confrontation with Dooku / Finale

Episode III: Battle of the Heroes, The Immolation Scene

Episode IV: Hologram / Binary Sunset, The Battle of Yavin

Episode V: The Asteroid Field, Yoda and the Force

Episode VI: The Battle of Endor I, Leia's News / Light of the Force

Limiting it to two tracks per film was hard. Just listen to all of it, it's great.

I could have tried to find more tracks that didn't prominently feature The Force Theme, but why would I want to??

Around the Network

Probably 5, 1, 6, 4, 3 and 2.
Empire is just great, the Imperial March alone...
Ep 1, i enjoyed the soundtrack, Duel of the Fates is a good example.
Jedi, it's really very refined as a score but for the most time not so outstanding somehow.
ANH's score is still a bit raw compared to the later ones. As iconic as it is and as defining, it's not yet as good.
3 has it's moments but very few memorable moments as a score.
Ep 2, well i remember the score being the best about the whole movie (no offense) but i hardly remember something special about the score itself after watching it (or listening to the music only).
