It is probably overrated. But maybe you should look at other games that released in 2015. Outside of Witcher 3 - Which I haven't played yet - All of them have critical flaws to them, and they are generally rated higher than they should in critical sense. When everyone makes mistake, mistakes become more tolerable.

Contrary to what people says, I don't think Undertale is a good example of story 'writing', as writing is pretty bland and basically goes against most of good writing techniques while relying on memes and joke to carry the flow. However, Undertale excels at presenting those story in ways only game could. Showing the capability of game story telling.

However, this is just an opinion.

Overrated? Heeeell no! xD It is just as good as people and the dozens of posts, comics, and drawings make it out to be. It really is a brilliant game where nothing really lacks in it. Everything about it is expertly crafted, from the witty writing, the excellent and lovable characters, the superb music, the constantly varying gameplay, etc. It really is an excellent game from beginning to end, and is best when you know nothing about it. The game really messes with your head sometimes, breaking the 4th wall to really poke at and question actions you performed in the game.

The gamefaqs guys are just stupid, but Undertale isn't overrated, it's truly an incredible game.

Lol. It beat Mario 64 now? Lol. I don't even need to play it to know there's absolutely no chance of it being better than that game.

With that said, Undertale is an amazing game, and to those who are saying the game is overrated, but haven't even played it. give it a fair chance.

I had low expectations when I played Undertale for the first time, but after beating it, I was shocked from how amazing the game was.

I hav enever played undertale. I dont care that much for it really. Also the OST sounds kinda just like Pokemon, the whole game actually looks like Pokemon, but it cant really say for certain because i have seen very very little of it. But im quite amazed how a game like that can beat Melee and masterpieces like that. And im starting to question things here

Reading through topics on gameFAQS, people are just voting for undertale because they don´t want another nintendo game to win, or because they want to make nintendo fanboys cry or just to troll. This is the kind of fanbase a game like undertale doesn´t deserve, makes other people hate game and makes them think is overrated ( I said it was getting overrated exactly because of this kind of stuff not that it actually was)
