It seems like the games where the publishers partner with Playstation becomes big sellers despite some of it having issues like metacritic low scores(Destiny), low content(Star Wars:BF) or  downgrades (Watchdogs). Some even like CoD which had problems with series fatigue just got experienced revitalization of their IP. And Bloodborne is selling like a Multiplatform Dark Souls game.

While for MS, any game they touch seemed to go to ruins like Sunset Overdrive and RoTR flopping despite good reviews. While others like Titanfall suffers low player count despite the "sales". I wonder why?

Unfortunately, yes.

I am staggered by how Sony keep selling consoles and publishers keep getting high sales from truely abysmal games. Watch Dogs was terrible, as was Destiny, COD yet for some reason people keep falling for the hype on these multiplatform games.

Any publisher now knows they can release any old pile of crap, have it marketed exclusively with exclusive content for the PS4 and it will sell like hot cakes. Its a very dissapointing trend and I believe this laziness is directly correlated to the lack of quality of these said games. Why put effort into making these games when you know the bundle is going to sell well, regardless of quality or content.

And Titanfall is a different story. Everbody knows you can max out after barely 12 hours on play with ZERO incentive to ''prestige'' or hunt for unlocks.

Quality is subjective, Numbers don't lie.

Unless you're an investor or part of the company's board of directors, sales numbers mean little to the average consumer other than to use for console wars and as a worrying substitute for self-esteem.

Yup, Sony is the savior of franchises. It's all about perception. When you are the one helping the poor, you are the savior. They are for the gamers best interests.

Anything attached to M$ is always perceived as money grubbing. They are money hatters only to make money.

Jesus you're on Vgchartz and you say those things.Ofcouse sales are important. Sales keep companies afloat and is a determinant if the game you like will get a sequel or not. News at 11 tbh.

Because PlayStation fans are used to buying new IPs, we dont even have a mascot like Nintendo and Microsoft

You should praise Sony for this. Just look at rocket league. They nab that up but still let it release at launch on PC.

But they have the genius idea of giving it free on ps plus and the game goes mega viral. Even after the first month sales have been huge.

On the other hand Microsoft get tomb raider. It doesn't even come to PC. They give it one exclusive retailer bundle that's too high a price and have it released at the worst possible time.

There's a reason these deals do better on Playstation m Sony are passionate about marketing them.

I think this is a bad example. Yes, everbody knows the TR deal was stupid, but it doesn't neccessarily mean Sony are more or MS are less ''passionate''. MS have propelled many new IP's and existing brands since the 360 days and I believe they did their best with titles like Sunset Overdrive. MS for some reason have simply been picking the wrong partnerships, which isn't necessarily their fault. As I mentioned earlier, peublishers will want their games marketed for PS4 because for some reason, they hype is working, especially in EU.

That proves my point.  first half of the 360 gen Microsoft were so unbelievably passionate and they propelled so many 3Rd party timed exclusives to the big-time.  They were doing it right.

This gen so far Sony is basically the Microsoft I just mentioned above.

Well, kinda true. It's a give and take relationship so I can't see the third party publishers complaining.

I think the only partnership that really didn't work as much as the others did was Assassin's Creed Syndicate. But Ubisoft just did so much damage with the IP thanks to Unity being the broken game it was, they tainted it and I feel like the fans are being cautious especially for an annual series.

It's doesn't really surprise me that games do better on PS4 than Xbox one this gen but people seem to be surprised by that a lot... I've been saying last gen that Xbox just had a bit of luck while PlayStation had a bit of a stumble. Sony made sure not to repeat that this gen.

I mean all of your examples are current gen which means Sony has the advantage of massively more marketshare.   However I would add that Sony seems to have finally gotten its marketing act together and is now currently one of the best marketers out there.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

For me it's a simple question: people have more respect for PlayStation than they have for Xbox, so they will trust more in Sony, and as a consequence, buy games for PS and PS systems. The other point is market share. Sony is dominating this generation day after day worldwide, so it's really hard for Microsoft to counter that.
Personally, I don't see one as good guy and the other as bad guy. Both Microsoft and Sony want to be successfull, so every partnership, new exclusive or price drop is part of a big strategy.
