Indeed but in favor of the PS4 and X1, both the PS4 and X1 are being counted together and the 3DS is up against smart phones and tablets.

The title of this OP is clickbait as fuck. They are not saying that is selling better than those 2, they say it HAS sold better than those 2 combined, and is just to give a perspective of the system success so far in a market dominated by smartphones.
