Forums - Gaming Discussion - The PC Platform is becoming the new home and definitive platform for the Final Fantasy Series (Prediction and Discussion Thread) (UPDATE 2025: Fulfilled)

What Final Fantasy game are you hoping will be released on PC/Steam next the most??

Final Fantasy I 9 7.20%

Final Fantasy II 1 0.80%

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster 22 17.60%

Final Fantasy IX 12 9.60%

Final Fantasy XII 23 18.40%

Final Fantasy XV (per announcement) 44 35.20%

Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions 14 11.20%

Total:125

If only SE caught this much flak for daring to call the next gen versions of Tomb Raider definitive.

Of course, OP, you are correct. With an honorable mention to mobile, of course. But PC will overtake it.

I think the people arguing with you are just not ok with PC being called the best home for the franchise, or they simply don't understand what definitive means.

Reminds me of the whole Sleeping Dogs trailer when they kept saying definitive =P.

But yeah mobile has the library of FF games but will be overtaken like you said which will be the ending point, one that's being argued against in the end anyway for some reason.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Without the best FF game the pc is lacking. Until it get IX its not worth mentioning 😉

Final Fantasy won't sell nearly as much on the PC as it does on the consoles. Just like Fallout 4, and Battlefield, etc, etc.

You can just as easily argue that iOS will get the future ones at some point too.  That's why it's mysteriously being argued.  And the answer right now is iOS is the definitive place to play.  That's a fact.  For all we know they may all he released on the ps4 by the time pc gets them all.

It's already Got type 0 HD, FF14, FF7 and it's going to get FF15,  World of Final FANTASY,  Dissidia final fantasy and the FF7 Remake before any pc.

To be precise,  vita gets world of Final Fantasy also day 1( yay go vita).

The arcades in Japan get Dissidia first and ps4 next.

Xbox one gets FF15 day 1 also.

To try tell someone pc is the definitive place for FF is just cruel.  The only definite thing about it is it will definitevly have to wait a long time to play all those.

So the ideal combination is a ps4 and an iPhone.

I can't play 3D FF on any other platform but Playstation without it feeling wrong. The same goes for 2D. I can't play the early games on anything but an NES and SNES. It just feel too alien.

This isn't even about sales though....

Feeling wrong as in? Technically you can play the NES/SNES and PSX/PS2 FF games on PC....but anyways l0l.

I'm old enough to remember renting the first FF on NES. I got FF2 for my SNES when it launched. I played all the 3D FF games on Playstation. When you play a franchise on a console platform, and it's the first time you experience it, that platform fuses with the IP. It's why MGS feels wrong on Xbox. KH 3 will likely feel odd on Xbox One as well. Would Halo feel right on a Playstation? No, not in my opinion.

Hmm interesting response.

I guess it doesnt affect me since I play on Nintendo systems, Playstation and PC almost equally.

Also nice! My first FF game and first RPG overall was also Final Fantasy II (IV) on the SNES :D

Good times.

Yeah, FF 2 was awesome. For a 2D game, I felt like it really set a great tone with music an atmosphere. I actually really CARED about it's world and characters which wasn't easy to do back in 1991 lol.
