Forums - Gaming Discussion - The PC Platform is becoming the new home and definitive platform for the Final Fantasy Series (Prediction and Discussion Thread) (UPDATE 2025: Fulfilled)

What Final Fantasy game are you hoping will be released on PC/Steam next the most??

Final Fantasy I 9 7.20%

Final Fantasy II 1 0.80%

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster 22 17.60%

Final Fantasy IX 12 9.60%

Final Fantasy XII 23 18.40%

Final Fantasy XV (per announcement) 44 35.20%

Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions 14 11.20%

Total:125

Yes, SE has catching up to do for us PC gamers :).

Honestly I think it's pretty nice to see the FF series come over to PC more and more. I mean SE has nothing to really lose and it shows that they're taking the platform seriously (as opposed to many Japanese third parties). Who knows? Maybe we will see a day where a FF game releases the same day on PC and console?

I just hope Dragon Quest is next, never had the chance to play that series, it would be a reason to start playing them =P

I actually wouldn't mind DQ being console only. It's still 100% turn based, so it won't suck as much on console as FFXV and DQH do.
That said, DQH on PC is a dream. Now someone just has to patch higher resolutions into it.

I already got Final Fantasy XII for the PS2, and i hope this one will be on Steam.

good for them people that never played those old titles yet I guess..

CPU: Ryzen 9950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5 Pro

PS Vita is still the best place to play FF if you feel like playing the old FFs. Maybe I'll play them on the plane this Friday.

Define definitive? its the new home for Digital only platform

There's nothing wrong with digital especially since future game platforms including Playstation will stray away from physical and focus more on digital in the future as the years ago by.

Definitive as in the following

-Ability to mod/edit the game
-Play at higher resolutions such as 4k
-Play at higher FPS than console versions
-b/c with the PC platform - you wont need to purchase the game again when you upgrade your PC

and you dont need to sell your PS4 when the PS5 comes out

-More chance of going on sale than console versions and at a better rate alongside possible future bundles at sites such as Bundle Stars and Humble Bundle.

digital console games go on sale all the time what is your point here? And with a Physical game market prices go down all the time for New and used games, in fact they go even lower and you need to wait for a sale.
-The ability to play on a big screen rather than from a mobile device (this is more to Teecuz's response)

i can play my PS4 and every console having aHDMI on a PC monitor with a HDMI port, or i can just play up close to my TV and set the image size to fit it.

But anyways my point is you cant say its definite. If there is even one single aspect of a game better on consoles  then its not definitive

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/definite#definite__2

Definition of definite in English:

Clearly stated or decided; not vague or doubtful:

Having a game on a disc does not make it better - that is just an opinion of the eye of the beholder. Features added to games such as additional content, improvement of visuals, improvement of FPS, etc do.

Let me make this clear for you. This thread is about a platform becoming the "Best" platform for the Final Fantasy series not a argument thread for the definition of "Definite". For all related topics to arguing for the definition of definite please refer to here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/board.php?id=9

Anyways at the moment (not including the mobile platforms) the Playstation Vita is currently the best platform mainly cause you can play these following games....

-Final Fantasy I Anniversary (PSP)
-Final Fantasy II Anniversary (PSP)
-Final Fantasy III (PSP)
-Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection (PSP)
-Final Fantasy V (PSX)
-Final Fantasy VI (PSX)
-Final Fantasy VII (PSX)
-Final Fantasy VIII (PSX)
-Final Fantasy IX (PSX)
-Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster (PSVita)
-Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX)
-Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions (PSP)
-Final Fantasy Dissidia (PSP)
-Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 Duodecim (PSP)

When X/X-2, Tactics and hopefully IX (and maybe a port of Dissidia PS4/XBO) will make the PC the true platform to go for in terms of Final Fantasy.

You say new home and definitie platform in the title, you could have just said new home

PC will always be the superior platform. Having adisc version doesn't make anything difinitive sorry. Also having more advantages than something makes it the difinitive version. PC having 10 advantages over the consoles 1 would make it difinitive. (That was an example number, but point stands). 10 advantages over 1 is unarguably better.
