Forums - Gaming - Getting my first Playstation (PS4)

So lads, I'm a 24 year old gamer getting their first Playstation console in January. A PS4.

Traditionally I'm a Nintendo gamer who turns to PC for third-parties because, although I'm primarily a single player gamer, I really like the idea of online multiplayer being free.

Because I'm getting myself a PS4 in January, but also have to pay to finally get a new PC that will be dedicated to game design, my parents have offered to by me some PS4 games for Christmas.

I want some suggestions for games to get for my PS4. To help any of you kind enough to undertake this most epic quest here are some of the Nintendo games I'm especially fond of - at least the ones I don't have safely tucked away but do have physical copies of.

Three side-notes:

(This is the first generation where I won't have an Xbox on the side - I'm about done being let down by Fable sequels. )
(Twilight Princess isn't there because, by comparison to the three Zeldas that are, I felt the game was a bit drab which I think was, in part, because of the lack visual pop.)
(Completely off-topic, but Xenoblade is the only game from gen seven I have in storage - its in a safe.)

You certainly can't go wrong with The Last of Us. I think it should be your first game.

Have realitstic expectations and you should be fine.

If you like more passive, cinematic experiences, I highly recommend Until Dawn. It's more movie than game, though.

Try Disgaea 5? SPRG like FE but comedic
Also Dragon Quest Heroes and Tales of Zestiria if you don't plan on playing those on your future PC
And get The Last Guardian when it comes out

Bloodborne, The last of us, driveclub, tearaway....for now.

Ff15, Dues ex, Uncharted and horizon for later.

Looking at your list its kinda hard to recommend titles that may suit your tastes but I guess I'll go ahead and try.

-Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (going from your FFIII NDS)
-Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (going from your FFIII NDS)
-Disgaea 5 (going from you owning Fire Emblem Awakening)
-DmC Definitive Edition (since you have Bayonetta)
-Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition (since you have Bayonetta)

Actually already looking into Final Fantasy X/X-2 on a friend's suggestion - my affection for Xenoblade, which comes from Monolithsoft and who actually started off as a part of the team working on FF7, also makes me interested to try more Final Fantasy in general. I'll be sure to check out Devil May Cry for comparable reasons, thanks for the idea!

Do I need to have played previous Disgaea games or do they do that Zelda/Final Fantasy/Xenoblade/Fire-Emblem thing where its a stand-alone story?

-The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
-Fallout 4
-Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection (highly recommend this)

I'm actually planning to play Fallout 4 for a comparative design study with Xenoblade Chronicles X, but I'll be getting it on PC. - I'm worried I might be open-worlded out for a little while after that. Uncharted goes with Infamous in things I feel I simply must try.

As always, you should check out Ratchet & Clank:

It'll release April 12th, and it'll only be 40$.

You have bayonetta 2 so you should consider God of War 3. Also consider Infamous, uncharted collection, the next ratchet and clank game and dragon quest heroes.

Looking at your games, I feel like most of the games you'd enjoy on PS4 are rolling out in 2016 and beyond.

That is why I've not gotten one previously; but January sales seem like a good time for me to pick it up since 2016 does look quite promising.
