This comes down to taste, but in the end, Square-Enix has at least 5 games that I know I'm going to buy, if I had a Wii U Nintendo would just have one.

I'm now filled with determination.

Depending on how much more powerful their next platforms are, Nintendo could fall to an all time low when it comes to AAA and maybe even AA games output ...

As a Nintendo fan, I must say Square Enix. I mean really, Amiibo Festival, Ultra Smash, Paper Jam!!! These games don't amount to FFVII:R, FFXV, Dragon Quest XI (PS4 Version), Kingdom Hearts III...I mean come on. If it weren't for Zelda U Nintendo'd have nothing to really show in the upcoming year.

PS: I still love Nintendo.

I think that's just the problem. Nintendo isn't just a AAA churning machine. Their biggest games are basically Zelda and Mario and every other gen metroid joins that list. That's not to say they don't make many other games but those other games usually fall into the AA or even A size category.

I mean Sony has just off the top of my head; GT, Infamous, Bloodborne, the order, uncharted, the last of us,killzone, drive club, horizon, Detroit, GoW...etc that are all games with budgets well over $30M. And this isn't even mentioning all the smaller PSN stuff like journey...etc. Nintendo just just isn't that kinda company. Its just not in their DNA.

It used to be in their DNA witih NES-64 days. I think with Iwata, they changed scope and some worked out and some didn't work out. Zelda, Smash, 2D/3D Mario, Pokemon and Mario Kart are their go to AAA games. Metroid, not so much but definitely AA. If Nintendo can survive like this, which they have been doing, I'm happy for them and I'll buy their AAA content. Nintendo could easily match Square Enix if they tried...well maybe not easily, but they could put up a good fight.

How is metroid not AAA? The budgets for the games are probably some of the highest of any Nintendo game.
It is precisely why we don't see anymore titles despite the last few games selling over a million. Metroid needs to sell over a million at full price to break even. That is AAA.

Anyway AAA doesn't matter matter too much. The Order was an AAA game but turned out lacking, meanwhile Splatoon was AA and turned our very good, and will be a new series. Budgets don't determine quality.

As for whether or not SE has a better lineup, one must remember that SE announces games that won't release for many years. Nintendo doesn't. For that reason it is better to look at the past in any point to determine output, not the future. SE hasn't been releasing stuff for years that was high quality.

That's because Nintendo doesn't announce their games 10 years in advance usually. You'll be waiting a long long time before you get to play some of those games on Square's list. And they're pretty much all the same with some exceptions.

Let's wait until after E3 2016 to bump this thread again. Nintendo also has Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Fire Emblem Fates, Pokken Tournament and Pikmin 4 confirmed. Games you conveniently left out.

Yes, Square Enix's current line-up is currently better than Nintendo. They easily have the best line-up of any company at the moment. But anyways, Nintendo is clearly in a transition period and they have come out and said so, so it's kind of understandable that their current lineup is weak, but in the next few years they should hopefully be back on their feet.

There's always a place for a Nintendo console.

But it's pretty obvious that SE has a better line up than everybody right now. They also have almost unquestionably the top 3 most anticipated games all to themselves. Although I don't think many on this site are going to take too kindly to this topic. It wasn't just a year or two ago that SE was in deep shit with everyone over a 4-5 year period of questionable choices. However, things change it seems.

Well said. I agree the SE was complete garbage for years until this last year or two and they seemed to have started listening to fans and are making better choices.

Nintendo has always been a monster at churning out quality games and that will not stop. They are by far one of the best developers period (IMHO, obviously).

If SE can change from the garabage developer they were since they merged and changed from Squaresoft, Nintendo definitely can turn things around with the NX and third party support.

Well, as a series it isn't. Doubt Federation Force can be considered AAA. But as you said, I don't really care about that.

No shit. lol
