Look at the gaming media. None of the major outlets are talking about Zelda U, because there's nothing new to talk about. Look at gaming forums. It's getting nowhere near as much discussion as games like Uncharted 4.

The only people talking about it are hardcore Nintendo fans, and the Wii U's sales prove that this is a shrinking fanbase.

I question whether you're ignoring sense for the sake of your argument, outlets and forums won't talk about it when they haven't been given media, they aren't talking about KH3, Shemue 3 or many other games either this doesn't say anything about hype when they've not been given media, companies today are more strategic in the media they give out how you don't understand this is beyond me or maybe you're playing coy to continue your little stance here.

Again I'll ask you do you want to bet on the next Zelda game? I'll straight up bet you that it'll do just as well as any previous game.

Can you show me evidence of this "mainstream hype" you claim exists?

And "any previous Zelda"? You think it has a shot at doing Twilight Princess or Ocarina numbers on Wii U?

Just type Zelda U in google, for a game with little footage it sure has a lot of articles.

I think it will sell the usual 4m as always with a chance to do more but it's nice you selectively chose the two highest selling games although if the is an NX version I can see it selling as much as those two. I'm going to ask you for a third and final time do you want to bet on the next game doing just as well as any of the previous games? Your reluctance to give an answer and the immediate jump to TP and OOT indicate that subconciously you're aware that your argument here is not indicative of Zelda's standing as a franchise.

He hasn't even answered this important question, "how would more Zelda U hype help?", what makes you think you're so special.

But yeah, it's pretty silly to imply that the Wii U would be doing better if there was more Zelda hype since we've already had bigger games (saleswise) in Kart and Smash that were hyped regularly, have released already, and did jack for the system. Clearly no amount of Zelda U hype is gonna do anything and Nintendo knows that. That's why they're waiting until the NX reveal before they truely start hyping it, well, probably. :L

It has strikingly few articles for a game that's supposed to be high profile. The big gaming news sites barely mention it. Forums discussing it aren't very active compared to other big games.

I refuse to bet on such nebulous terms. "As well as any of the previous games" is too broad and open to interpretation.

I think an NX version is a given tbh so yeah I agree, part of the silence on the game is likely due to a NX version being in existence imo.

So in other words you don't have any confidence in your own argument to bet on it.

Obviously it's because the game is not ready to show.

It's not like they're 80% done and have loads of gameplay and demos to show off.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Even discounting the 13 seconds, they showed it twice already, with the last time being a year ago, and it's supposed to release a year from now after knowing it's been in development since 2012. Obviously they coulda showed more if they wanted.

Actually every little new info we have about Zelda U is mentioned by gaming news sites, and in same time you having huge numbers of threads and posts about just that little new info. Last example was this 13 seconds video.

Hell I think a Link Between Worlds got more hype than this. Even the Majora's Mask rerelease seemed to have more hype

I don't know about Link Between Worlds, but Skyward Sword certainly had more awareness a year out; we'd gotten a proper gameplay trailer, and plenty of uncut gameplay.

But Zelda U? Beyond the hardcore Nintendo fanbase, its existence is barely even acknowledged.

This just isn't true. Almost every gamer (even those that are not Nintendo fans) is aware of existence of Zelda U game, even Nintendo showed so little about game, and definitely is one of the biggest game of this gen, not just of next year.
