This is the new, more kid friendly spinoff one, right? Where everyone's chibi-fied and you ride little dinos?

No, this is the more action oriented spin off, you're thinking of Monster Hunter Stories.

Ah, thank you! I forgot there were two Monster Hunter games coming out so soon.

Good numbers for MHX, especially since it's a non-numbered entry. But those 3DS numbers... what sorcery is this? I guess it won November easily in Japan.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Holy FUCK!!!!!

From memory, so far only the 3DS have sold 100k+ in Japan in a single week!

And Yeah with almost 5 years, it is still selling this much! The handheld market or the gaming market in Japan is basically on the 3DS hands. With Pokemon + MH + AC and the newest YW!

Would you not credit the software rather than the hardware it runs on.  These games could be on the Vita and they would sell there too.  Software sells the hardware not the other way around.

As for the numbers,  absolutely fantastic.  Monster hunter and the 3DS both did great.  Monster hunter 5 will be crazy big.  Did not expect the 3DS to go nearly that high.  Well done!

Way Unexpected given on these facts... (from my prediction thread)

Monster hunter is not a straight sequel to M4HG but people in Japan treating it like it is! it ended up with the same weekly sales points in comg net ranking and with 100 less points in pre-orders points rankings!

Also, predict 3DS sales of that week!

Keep in mind that we're almost in the 5th year of 3ds in Japan and it has sold there, the whopping 19.5m units, an overly high number for Japan's video game market current standards or for the own self of 3DS! This year it expectedly faces a big decline regarding 2014 sales (though it was New 3ds/xl release then)!     Consequently, it has hit a point of satuaration! Of course that doesn't mean that a major game can't  push 3ds sales, but in no way in the great extend as  before 2015, especially when the major game  it's a sequel, since most people or a big porportion of the game fanbase can be already on the platform since the release of the predecessor...

3ds sales before monster hunter x release week were at 35k, up from 28k in the week before! Also same week last year, sales were at 97k...

The week of MHX release, is when holiday effect in sales iniciates in Japan, so 3ds will be benefited from that too!

It's worth to note that more old 3ds owners may finally want to upgrade to new 3ds/xl given it's enhanced new screen, stable 3d effect, better cpu which has a result of smaller loading time and faster internet browsing /downloading plus its other improvements/additions that are very obvious in Monster hunter titles perfomance, so that bundle might be the occassion about it!

The last game that managed to boost 3ds sales in a considerable rate, was Animal crossing Happy home designer back in July 30th 2015, which sold 520k in its first week and also had a new 3ds xl  bundle ! 27k->54k (100% boost)! In addition  the remakes, pokemon OR/AS had been released in similar time frame last year, and got 3ds up from 57k to 86k and 3ds sold 97k the next week, which was the beginning of the holiday boost in Japan!

Hahahahahha, even though the bolded explains the occurence but still when I was writing this, I hadn't on my mind a 400% boost, 38% wyoy up and 133k sales! WTF

I was expecting 100% boost and 70k sales... Considering this an optimistic prediction!

3ds got a 400% boost.... And sold 40k more than same week last year!

Great number for a spin-off

Very impressive. This games is technically a spinoff, but not?

But there was another thread where Amazon Japan user reviews were low, and the suggestion was to move it off 3ds...

Nintendo just buy Monster Hunter from Capcom...seriously though this is good.

Man, 3 or 4 games on the same system and this series still sells. Kinda a shocker it is still doing so well.

Oh......

Aha...

Nintendo had uploaded  a 3ds vs New 3ds Monster hunter X perfomance video comparison!

New 3ds kills old 3ds...

Do the same in the west Ninttttteeeeendddoooooo!:P

An advertisment of 3ds xl vs New 3ds xl would be great and very benignant for the system sales...
