Forums - Gaming - Worth it? MGSV on Xone sold 400K WW so far.

Was it worth it?

Konami just shot themselves in the foot... 88 52.69%

It was worth it.Atleast K... 79 47.31%

Total:167

I think it was worth it, especially with the PC ports of GZ and V combined, a lot better than the likes of WB. The franchise being multiplat is a good thing for gamers anyway, those that wish for it to be exclusive only want to deny and tell others where and what to game on which isn't objectively good for everyone.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Same reason why most PC games aren't running at 1080p yet can still run mgs5. The resolution, lighting,AA, ect can be toned down easily through settings. The assets and everything will be the same. Also, vgchartz always undertrack so I always add extra units to ales. Just look at Halo MCC or PS4 sales according to vgchartz. Also, how was the delay xbox one fault? Is that why uncharted 4 or tlg was delayed because of xbox one? Sorry, but it was well worth it for a simple port that you don't have to do much other than change the settings, remap controller and a few other items.

Last time I heard, Uncharted: A Thief's End and TLG aren't Konami games. so.

Last time I checked they were delayed despite being worked on one system. Guess it is the xbox one fault according to your logic.

No they delayed it for the sake of ROTR I'm afraid if was all for nothing. What a shame.

TLG was a PS3 game.

No, they delayed it because they weren't ready. Same thing going to happend with TLG and Horizion.

Sure Jan.

Even if it did, doesn't make up for the dismal sales of MGSV on XB1.

Which is the point of the thread

There's actually a logical answer to that question and it has nothing to do with Playstation. Essentially, if the units sold didn't make up for the cost of development then it was not worth it. More than likely the answer is No, it wasn't worth it.

With digital that is about 600k+ on the xbox one. That is pretty darn good especially since it was a port. Porting is a lot easier now days because games run on the same engine and it all game systems (PC, Xbox one and ps4) have the same architecture. Also, in the long run this game will sell more than a couple million on xbox one probably. Defiantly worth the money, time and resource.

The question was it's easy for Kojima and the fox engine. It surely wasn't. GZ XB1 run 720p just a year ago. The game was like delayed to March and then September. Speaks for something tbh. And damn at that 50% digital sales for Konami. Where did that come from. Haha

Reducing resolution is the easiest way to get it running on Xbox One without too many adjustments. If anything you could argue about the last gen versions.

Porting engine and game to PS3 very likely was way more expensive than porting to Xbox One. It's not only always been a pain in the ass for devs, it's very likely they had to do a ton of adjustments for the old consoles. And maybe those PS3 and 360 owners would've bought current gen consoles earlier, thus buy more current gen games at higher prices.

Considering Kojima has more experience on the PS3 than any of us in here in this thread, I doubt it but then I agree they should've just excluded last gen Xbox and Xbox One.

@OP

Do you actually want answers to the question you asked or do you want to convince people that it wasn't worth it?
At the end of the day it was an easy port that sold like 500k already and might end up around 800k to a million.

Oh and your assumptions do not prove your point.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Porting an all new engine to declining platforms and redoing tons of assets isn't exactly cheap. On the other hand you seem to have no clue how closely related PS4 and One are related to each other and PC.

That's all I have to say, so last post from my side here.
