Forums - Gaming - Worth it? MGSV on Xone sold 400K WW so far.

Was it worth it?

Konami just shot themselves in the foot... 88 52.69%

It was worth it.Atleast K... 79 47.31%

Total:167

So selling to more gamers = less sales now. I've never understood the mentality that it being exclusive to PlayStation would make it sell more on PlayStation. The PlayStation gamers that wanted it got it, those on xbox got it. That logic is highly illogical.

The question is was it worth it? It's not a question of pleasing the fans but what economically or logistically made sense.Konami got caught in a shitstorm. Kojima got fired or kidnapped or on vacation who knows. MGSV probably underperformed because of boycotts. That 400k sales imo are not worth those. I mean I'm sure if people really really like the game,  time exclusive, console exclusive or full exclusive or whatever form it was, fans will buy the game anyway they can.

The only certainty is that the numbers are lackluster

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

It was worth it. That is more than enough revenue to justify the cost of producing the game for XB1.

The Order sold more than that and it was considered by many a flop. Why?

Why would you not release a high profile title on X1 as well? The cost of porting it to X1 is most likely just a fraction of what they made from the 400k copies.

Why not? Potential PS4/PC MGSV buyers are always welcome, are you saying those 400k Xb1 users can't switch anyway of given a chance? And the delays that caused such fractions between the gaming community and Konami. Considering the inferior hardware, a lot of optimizations probably had money and time sank on XB1. Are you saying time is not valuable. The Opportunity cost that have been made by this such as Silent Hills. The drama was definitely not worth it.

I hope you realize that you're saying that the multi billion dollar industry that is 3rd party multi platform games is "not worth it". It's the same business as it was in the previous gens only that it's this time slightly less profitable. Still worth it.

Is that why Konami is on teh verge of dropping gaming business and  going full pachinko mode?

Konami is probably the worst example of anything in any matter ever. It's a company that is run by aliens who have never met the human race and decide most things by dice rolls.

Look at Take Two, EA and Ubi if you want to talk business. Guess on how many platforms they release while making billions.
