Forums - Gaming - What a great time to be a gamer!

I can't agree. The best time to be a gamer was during the PS1/Saturn/N64 era. The advent of 3D, voice acting and all sort of new and fresh experiences on every genre that had the potencial to see sucess.

Nowadays its the time of overpriced DLC, incomplete and buggy games at launch, limited genre of sucessful genres. Its not good at all. Only the graphics got prettier.
Its not like i need them to re-invent the wheel. I'm fine with perfecting the formula. But the formula became too restrictive and in both number and variety, gaming is leaving much to be desired. Nowadays its pretty much FPS and Open-world or you're doing it wrong.

Today definately is the best time to be a gamer and next year will be better and the year after that will be even better. This is because you get new games every year thus expanding the quantity and quality of the videogame library whilst also having access to every game released in years gone by.

For example next year will be the best time to be a zelda fan because in 2016 you will still have access to every zelda game ever made plus the new zelda game for wii u.

Now that's exaggerating way to much you have many tripple A games, japanese games, indie developer producing small interesting stuff and games made because of kickstarter and not many of these games are FPS or open world games ( even tripple A games have much variety besides FPS and open world).

Do you watch many speedruns of old games? So many old games have so many glitches, bugs and incomplete gameplay that these games are more frustating instead of being hard.

I would also say that the gameplay today in games is way better than those games in the past in general as well.

Probably the best part of being a gamer now IMHO is being able to play top notch games on multiple platforms. There is never a time that I cannot play high quality games no matter where I am at.

It is great, but I prefer 6th gen era+ the anime from that time.
5th gen was also great. Both 5th and 6th had great co-op games.
With the advent of Multiplayer (made popular by 7th gen) I have to pay a fee to play with my friends since most games removed co-op.
Still I much prefer 8th gen to 7th gen.

2015. Hands down the best year in gaming since 2001. Epic year for games. Prosperous year for all systems. PC is heading back to its throne. PC's and consoles are about to TRY and merge. We're on the edge of VR and hopefully full imersion or enough to question if you are in GTA6 while driving down the road and then some asshoe plays for 12 straight hours and goes on a rampage in real life.

...oh...shit. That will most likely happen.

Fuck.

and 2016 looks even better in regards to games and finally all those VRs that are set to release in this year.

Whoa! Some of us might be going overboard. Right now is a great time to be a gamer but I wouldn't say this is the best year, ever. For new releases, I've had quite a few disappointments. Only a couple of big games really delivered for me.

Eh, I disagree, I think that the negatives outweight the positives, even with the occasional REALLY good game, gaming as a whole has become a lot more stale and by the numbers than it was ever before.

To be honest, good Indies are what keeps me gaming, but even then, while fun, very few of them end up being amazing experiences.

I'm now filled with determination.
