Haha, at this point, I'm not sure if it's like amiibo or not. Though, with the Mewtwo thing, thinking on it, it doesn't seem bad. It's free to people who happened to have both version of the game, and for the rest of the audience, it's dlc, which is standard for post release content. No one is really getting cheated.

Having the full content availble only if you own both devices would be wrong, though it could be negated for people who wanted them both anyways. It's a grey area that falls more the bad side. I just hope they have the full content from the start and not require hoops to get everything, or just offer it as dlc if you only own one of the two...

Again, like with things like Smash Run, that just won't happen. I expect a lot of situations like this to happen. It may be wrong, but it's already being done now, and it's the way most, if not all, Nintendo games will be designed come the NX. From Zelda to Pikmin. I just wonder how it's going to effect games like Mario Kart. Or story based games like Pokemon or Metroid.

I don't think it's right, but I do think it's inevitable. I also think it's genius, the same way I think Amiibo's implementation is genius. It will work, whether we take issue with it or not.

I figured owning both would come to certain games just particularly being a better fit to a console or a handheld, such as Smash Bros on the console, and Pokemon on handheld.

I think that idea will be comepletely eliminated with the NX. Everything will be on everything, with specific features and content being locked to one version depending on the nature of the platform ala local trading on the handheld for Pokemon or Local single screen matched for Smash.

Vast majority of game will be on both platform, but not every single game. I can see some games that will be exclusive for home or handheld that will be use most of those hardware, also Nintendo needs to give another reason to have both hardwares, just few exclusives will do a job.

Who the hell wants to pay 300 dollars for a Nintendo System? It didn't work out for the Wii U very well. People already got an xbox one/ps4 and I guarantee you most of those people don't want a Nintendo system. I guarantee PS4 owners want xbox one and vise versa over a Nintendo System.

Nintendo fans, casuals, PS4 or Xbox One owners, i think Nintendo console is far better secondary console than PS4/XboxOne that are very similar.

Also Wii U had far more problems than just a high price.

PS4 owners like shooters obviously so why wouldn't they like an xbox one? Halo, Gears, Titan Fall and more. Nintendo games don't appeal to playsation owners.

I think the console part of the NX could be $249.99, the handheld part for $199.99 maybe less and the disc drive if you prefer DVD/Blu-Ray and the backwards compatibility $99-$149. I think the plan is to have an all in one but be able to buy different parts or all together for 499.99. If this ends up being their strategy with the NX expect some parts really hard to find because there is no way for them to predict market behavior with such a new way of doing a console/handheld. So Pachter could be partially right...which is all he needs to be to convince people he knows his shit, which sometimes he does...sometimes.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day XD

And I would prefer full backwards compatibility, both digital and physical. If not, I guess they could do like Microsoft and retool some of the WiiU games a little to play on the NX digitally. Maybe they'll keep Wii BC, because the original Wii is laughably underpowered at this point and emulating it shouldn't be any problem (plus it sells wiimotes).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Not every PS4 owner love shooters, and Nintendo NX will have for instance Metroid Prime game.

Wait, what do you mean by won't happen...? Don't you mean it will? It only works best on handheld since players have to work and collect things in secret, and it being on console won't really work that way...

There is literally no game that benefits from only being on one platform. Might there be games that will be on one platform? Yes. There may be a few 3rd party games that aren't put on the NXDS, but there is no doubt in my mind that 100% of all Nintendo games will be on both. Outside of a few platform exclusive features for every game, there will be no other reason. The platforms themselves will be enough.

"I just hope they have the full content from the start and not require hoops to get everything, or just offer it as dlc if you only own one of the two..."

I was responding to this sentence. This won't happen. You will have to jump through that hoop of owning both platforms to get everything, and it won't be offered as DLC for most games if you only own one of the two.
