Forums - Website Topics - Console & Handheld Tracking Inquiry

With consoles offering soo much more than just gaming these days (see: Movies for Xbox360, News and Weather for Wii, internet browsing on consoles, Skype for PSP and the Rumored PSP Phone, not to mention other functions), and the line between gaming and other entertainment blurring more every day, at what point to you draw the line for tracking hardware?

The thought came to me when researching and considering the possibilities of the Iphone/ipod touch's newly released SDK. While the question of whether or not Apple's device will become a viable gaming platform is debatable (I suggest reading Next-gen's article on said topic, its a good read: http://next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9621&Itemid=2), it definitely has the hardware to compete with Sony and the Big N's portables, and has the potential to make its mark by having an already tech savvy userbase.

The question becomes then, when (if ever) do you start tracking Apple's hardware as a handheld on the site?

I also believe that the new console Acer is working on could pose a similar problem for the console side.  Any thoughts?

I guess as soon as they actually become viable platforms for gaming.
