It was self-evident that a pokemon game featuring Zygarde for 3DS would come because of a trend. Don't turn a blind eye!
Nintendo was always releasing three versions/games for every pokemon gen, mostly after two or almost three years!
In the first gen we got two versions featuring two of the three starters in their last evolution. After two years, we got a third version featuring the mascot of pokemon!
Then in 2nd gen they released the third version but after only one year! The first two versions, each were feauturing one pokemon from the protagonistic legendary duo, and the third one featured a legendary pokemon from a secondary legendary trio!
Similarly In 3rd gen, with the diffence of having a protagonistic legendary trio instead of duo. We got the third version featuring the third protagonistic legendary pokemon after two years and a half.
Same for 4th gen.
In 5th gen, the only difference was that we got a sequel instead of a third version, but which again featured the third pokemon of a protagonistic legendary pokemon trio. Techincally, it's a third version, with two skus.
What about 6th gen, where we have again a a protagonistic legendary pokemon trio?
1stGEN Pokemon red (Charizard) & blue (Blastoise) 1996 -> Pokemon Yellow (Pikachu) 1998
2ndGEN Pokemon silver (Lugia) & gold (Ho-oh) 1999/2000 -> Pokemon Crystal (Suicune) 2000/2001
3rdGEN Pokemon sapphire (Kyogre) & ruby (Groudon) 2002/2003 -> Pokemon Emerald (Rayquaza) 2004/2005
4thGEN Pokemon diamond (Dialga) & pearl (Palkia) 2006/2007 -> Pokemon Platinum (Giratina NEW FORM) 2008/2009
5thGEN Pokemon black ( Zekrom) & White (Reshiram) 2010/2011 -> Pokemo Black 2 & White 2 ( Black and White Kyurem) 2012
6thGEN Pokemon X (Xerneas) & Y (Yveltal) 2013 -> Pokemon Z (?) (Zygarde) -> 2016
( Pokemon games usually, are being released earlier in Japan, than the rest of the world)
The question is: Will it be a third version, viz Pokemon Z or Pokemon XY& Z or a sequel, namely, Pokemon X2 & Y2 or Pokemon XZ & YZ ?
It has been revealed that Zygarde has two ne forms.
Perfect form, which obviously is Zygarde crossed over with Xerneas and Yveltal! It has its own color and charactheristics but along with xerneas color to its right wing and yveltal color to its left wing along with a bird/snake tail plus that it steps, has steel details on its legs and a cluster of uneven horns on itshead.
Also it can form X with streched legs and wide open uplifted wings or just with its four wing opened, Y with open uplifted wings and closed/joined legs or low wings! And Z by sticking its tail to its joined legs sideways, and extending its wings joined straight in the opposite direction of its broadside placed tail...
This screams third version, ergo Pokemon Z but due to the fact that Zygarde is polymerized with Yveltal and Xerneas, the name could be Pokemon XY&Z .

However, Zygarde has a second new form! A a dog like form, which called 10% form!
Could this be featured seperately from the perfect form? This materialization would imply a sequel of two versions (X2 & Y2)! One would include the dog-like form and the other one, would include the legenadry Pokemon hybrid?
I don't find that rational, since the dog like-form is ancillary and much weaker than the legendary pokemon hybrid, hence it would be weird to have its own game version countering the pokemon of the other one.
Nevertheless, don't rule out the possibility of a sequel! To wit, Pokemon XZ and YZ, both having the same pokemon ( the hybrid) but in one version with the powers of Xerneas and in the second one with the powers of Yveltal! That's fairly logical!
Someone, may say that this thing could still be named X2 & Y2! True, but in that case XZ and YZ is more possible, owing to Zygarde's trademark Z-shape!
I predict third version, but not simply named Z, due to Zygarde/Xerneas/Yvltal polymerization! So, XY in front of Z... XY&Z
Although, I would like Pokemon XZ & YZ, I have already said why:
Pokemon XZ and YZ, both having the same pokemon ( the hybrid) but in one version with the powers of Xerneas and in the second one with the powers of Yveltal!
