Is it bad that I play Splatoon for myself ? I strive to top the ranking for my team at the end, and im not that fussed if I lose, as long as I finish top ( which is 90% of the time) Ok I guess im selfish :)

Well this is not true at all, actually only small part of people were upset about that and majority of them isn't even Nintendo audience. Personally I don't ever use voice chat in any game, but I realize that is problem for some people even those people are in vast minoroty. |
And how exactly do you know this? If you're gonna tell someone that what they're saying is wrong, you need a source and not pure speculation.

Its not speculation, I saw number of people on internet who were upset by this and saw number of those who dont mind, also those who were upset are much more vocal that those who saying its not big deal.
If vc is that important then the vocus is on that and not the game itself.

You saw enough numbers to draw a conclusion about the 10m wiiu users? Yeah, right. You do realize that "the people on the internet" are the minority, right?
What makes you think that those who are upset are more vocal? This is baseless speculation. Unlike you, I'm not saying that most have a problem with it or call them the vast majority. Simply put, we don't know. All we know is that the game has been selling well, which is a strong indication that people are enjoying it.

Beacuse if I relly dont like something about some game I will say I relly dont like that (espacily when is big problem), but if something is some thing that doesnt bother me I will certainly not say "I think this isnt problem at all" beacuse there is no need for that.
And yes we know that, you can see here on forum and that this bother only small number of people, and if that is such a big problem game wouldn't sell so well.
Considering the main audience of this hame, voice chat probably wouldn't help much.
Besides, if I wanna do voice chat, I'll probably just play with my friends while using something like Skype.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Mario Kart 8 was perfectly fine without Voice chat because it's a racing game, and we don't need to hear 11 other players voices online. But an online MULTIPLAYER not having voice chat?! At first I didn't mind it at first because the game was so much fun! But later after awhile it got boring because it was the same old thing.... Voice chat really helps making online multiplayer feel like new. I only play Splatoon once every 2 weeks just for 20 minutes then I get bored and play something else. Having no voice chat also made the mulitplayer stressful at times because you can't communicate with your teammates AT ALL. When I blast up in the air and come straight down, I get killed... this would be VERY useful for voice chat to help me "Hey protect me, I'm coming over to you!". I give Splatoon a 7 out of 10. If it had voice chat, I would give it a 9 out of 10. Nintendo really messed up by not putting voice chat. Shame.... |
Well, I'm gonna say that the lack of voice chat kept me playing Splatoon... I'm serious! I see Splatoon as a more cerebral shooter because you need to be really smart in some situations as you can't count with voice chat. I'm the only one to blame. Everytime. It's the same for my foes. There's no 3x1 or 2x1 in Splatoon anytime. It's always 1x1 (kind of) because your foes can't coordinate even when you're outnumbered.
Also, lag is bad enough without it and, to be honest, I think that almost all information you need is on the screens. You just need to look at the gamepad now and then and you'll know almost everything you would want. Also, maps are fairly small and you can tranverse it pretty quickly and ranked modes maintain teams in a even small area (zones, tower, rainmaker).
Splatoon is a frenetic shooter in a small map. In the end, voice chat wouldn't add much and would worst the connection.
About the killing after the super jump, you should use the perk that keep your jump undetectable. I think this is the most useful perk in the game.
=)
I think that the game has all the features needed to make a good team work. You have a map to pinpoint the position of your friends. You have basic orders with the D-pad to make the team work. When you super-jump the position is marked on the map, so your teammates can decide if they want to help you or not. I don't think the game is to blame if people don't keep up or don't pay attention. And I don't think voice chat would help a lot. And I think it's fun to communicate with only basic features, it's more challenguing but achievable too.
