Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ninja Theory working on 360/PS3 title (Not working on Heavenly Sword)

Well ,this is strange ,Ninja Theory was a second party of Sony .Or they have broke loose (doubtful ) or Sony has lost some faith in them and arent publishing their next game so they have gone multiplattform .

In any case sooner or later there will be a HS2 ,and only on PS3 as the IP belongs to Sony .

Let's get a more competent developer on Heavenly Sword 2, cause Ninja Theory had no idea what to do with it.

I'm not too excited about their game anyway. Kung-Fu Chaos was bad, as was Heavenly Sword. So I won't be expecting much from this game.

Maybe Sony can get someone like Insomniac to take on Heavenly Sword, or like KoW said, Ready at Dawn. Or maybe they can use their own internal studios. Sony Santa Monica?

Ready at Dawn: "DO NOT WANT!"

They do Dead or Alive as well, right?

Nah. That's team ninja.

If they did Heavenly Sword there would have been significantly more fan service for guys.

As we've talked about a million times before, there is an economic reckoning coming to companies making niche titles like this (that is, aimed squarely at the "action packed, epic fantasy" crowd), and Ninja Theory seems to be one of those companies that seems oblivious to those concerns.

Why wouldn't they want it?

It's nothing wrong with the IP.

The problem with it was that it was short.

Which has nothing to do with the idea of the game.

That has to do with Ninja Theory and 'not finishing' the game.

Ready at Dawn did wonders with GoW, and Daxter.  I think they could do the same with HS.

On the contrary, there should be a reckoning for developers making WWII shooters and still expecting a payday.

How much of Heavenly Sword-NT is actually still there? I know some of them have left already.

Those are slightly more mass market, but suffering from severe saturation. Both are in for a reckoning, I agree.

Heavenly Sword-esque games are niche. God of War, the grand master game of them all, sold about 3 million copies in its lifetime. Its sequel sold around 2 million.

This isn't a game or genre with a huge following.

Didn't Sony Cambridge work heavily with Ninja Theory on Heavenly Sword? And didn't some NT devs end up leaving NT to join Sony Cambridge (and vice versa)?

If so, then Sony Cambridge (the guys behind MediEvil) may be assigned to HS2.
