IMO gameplay>graphics and Bethesda are pretty damn good at getting the gameplay right...

Ummm. What gameplay? It doesn't count when you often have to restart your console because the game crashed. Gameplay is often jerky and bug ridden. They gotten good at causing their damn games to freeze though.

Fallout 3, new vegas and skyrim still have bugs that crash the game and it some situations ruin a playthrough.

Doesn't the performance of a game ultimately dictate how good the gameplay is in it? Jerky combat......

I played the PS3 version of Skyrim, which is supposed to be the worst (and it probably is as well), bought it a year after launch and never encountered any bug that caused my console to freeze or forcing me to restart my console.

No its because the polish currency is more undervalued to the US dollar. The budget is actually a pretty high one for them in their currency but lower in the US. Its about equal i would say

The currency is not undervalued, why would that be?

I don't know how much IT guys earn in US, but in Poland they earn a lot in comparison to other professions. This is surely because of the fact that programmers can find a job in any country in the world as language isn't really a problem. In the case of Poland, our neighbour is the richest country in Europe, so the brain draining is real and Polish companies have to pay competitive wages. Also The Witcher team was very international, with people from all over the world, so they have to pay enough to attract these people. Witcher 3 isn't a game made is a shack or garage, they have prime talent and had to pay these people. Hence, I have no idea how they managed to get the budget so low. They surely pay a bit less, but it's not like they are paying in peanuts. I guess it's more the consequence of money being wasted in bigger companies and CD Projekt RED being governed more effectively. Efficiency is huge companies is much lower than is smaller ones. I guess we'll see when we get to know the numbers for Cyberpunk 2077

The small budget has been debunked already

The Witcher 3 has sold 6M copies, development budget was £53 million. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold 6 million copies, and CD Projekt also revealed the title's £53/$81 million budget today. That's 1 million a week.

A senior software developer makes 25k on average in Poland

In the USA 92k on average

So high budget, lower wages, that's how they did it.

I put hundreds of hours into Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, and quite frankly, all three games suck.

Yes, they are ambitious and have wonderfully created worlds. But the games are extremely buggy, lack interesting characters, the writing could have been done by a 13 year old with asperger's, all hundreds of characters in the game share the same 3 or 4 lousy voice actors and combat, which is core element in all these games, is not any fun at all.

And you know what? People eat it up. Bethesda ain't gonna change and why should they?

Why would you put 100s hours into a series of games you don't like or that you never figured out if you liked it. Just....why? What the...what a?

Really?

Hype most of all I guess. Really wanted to love these games. They all have so much promise and potential. And some things really are enjoyable, like the beautiful worlds, the freedom, the PC benchmarking (). And Fallout was an amazing series before Bethesda murdered it. In the end Bethesda games are hugely flawed in my opinion.

LOL I can confirm that everything you said is right.I did enjoy Skyrim, nut it was my first ES game and I had never been into Western RPGs before, but the interest wore off the more I played and the more the flaws showed themselves. They have some of the worst characters and stories in gaming history.I am surprised that Bethesda games have not cured my insomnia.I just used the level up glitches to get stronger, because the combat is so bland.
