There are much better playing and looking 10 year old games out there.

Half Life 2 is from 2004. OG Xbox Halo games are also older than Battlefront II. Those games are much more polished visually and offer more complex gameplay. Part of the problem is Battlefront II was designed for PS2's crappy specs.

Eh 3rd person shooters were still pretty average at the time. Halo and Half life 2 did a lot for the FPS genre. The same thing for 3rd person shooters happened with Uncharted and Gears.

I don't think 1st person versus 3rd person camera is a valid argument. Battlefront II looks and feels terrible compared to notable games of that same period.

There was some okay 3rd person shooters before Battlefront II. Such as Freedom Fighters, MDK2, 007: Everything or Nothing, Headhunter, Punisher, and most notably Resident Evil 4.

Also, I forgot about Unreal Tournament 2004. That game looked amazing for the time and offered large scale battle.

It is just my opinion. I didn't play any that you listed except for Resident Evil 4, due to no interest in 3rd person shooters at the time.

Yeah, opinions can be wrong. I have some knowledge on the subject of 3rd person shooters from the 6th gen, so that's why I am surprised Battlefront II looks and feels bad even for 2005. If it was desigined to take advantage of Xbox or PC specs of the time it would have been a lot more impressive.

One last thing, I forgot about one of the best 3rd person game ever made. Metal Gear Solid 2, released in 2001. Much older and looks amazing compared to Battlefront II.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm sure Battlefront will be a massive hit, but not super confident it will have long legs in terms of playerbase.

Who knows.

The SW game I want to see :

A *great* single player campaign, preferably with co-op options and branching paths depending on choice/results.

Solid team-MP based on objectives with at least 3 or 4 distinct classes for mixed-mode battles. Also, a Wing-Commander/Tie-Fighter/X-Wing simcade style ship to ship combat mode with decent sized battles (like say 2 major AI capital ships, several larger ships on each side, and then plenty of single-seaters).

That would make my universe, lol. Which means it will never happen :)

Can we all, for the love of god, stop comparing EABF to Original BF? One is the Original Trilogy, the other is the Prequel Trilogy. We get it, you OT elitists will hate the new one and it's definitely not worthy blah blah blah shut up. Let the rest of the Star Wars fans enjoy this shell of the series' former self if we want to, or whatever the quote is you want to repeat from that gamefaqs thread you read to learn about how the new entry is bad.

I like the OT. I like the PT. I loved BF. I'll like EABF. They all sucked except for BFII, which sucked less.

And the Sequel Trilogy is going to suck too, so take that. And I'll enjoy it. Let's focus on meaningful criticisms (like $50 of DLC) instead of blind comparisons to a game that has no justification being compared to outside of name alone, especially when using a six month old chart.

Star Wars fans are ridiculous.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Hey, opinions aren't based on facts. Its clear he didn't know much about 3rd person shooter prior to Battlefront II either.

I stand by what I said.

I really didn't want to respond, as your comment bred anti discussion.

But I have played plenty of 3rd person shooters. Many of the ones you listed are as niche or nicher then supposed "niche" games today.

The titles I mentioned varied from moderately successful to multi million sellers. Also, they are still pretty good by today's standards.

Again, you said you weren't interested in 3rd person shooters at that time. I'm just letting you know there was some notable stuff that makes Battlefront II look dated as shit.
