Forums - Gaming - The Thankful Thread: What Are You Thankful for in the Industry?

Heya, Cloudman here again. Not sure if anyone has made this thread yet, but they haven't I figured "Why not I do it?" Haha... I'm talking about an obligatory Thankful thread! : )

It's November now, which at least in the US, is most known for its holiday, Thanksgiving, which at the end of the month, where families get together and eat Turkey, along with other great food staples. Oh, there's also the thankful part of the holiday too, with being thankful for various things, haha...

Well, I figured, why not do something like that for video games? Often, the industry can be a heated place, with companies working hard to make their games and make good profit, and the gamers themselves, who get caught trying to defend the industry from various things, such as violence in video games, equality among men and women in games, and even the heated console wars themselves.

So yeah, why not take a break from that and just give a moment to say thanks to the companies and people who work hard to make the things we love?

I'll go with a more obscure choice: ATLUS

This is a company I am very thankful for and feel deserves it, because not only do they continue to release a wide range of good and interesting games, despite being niche, they often go beyond, often having extras added to their games, such as CDs and artbooks. Most companies do pre-order bonuses, like extra skins, and other weird goodies, like a new character, or promote season passes before a game is released, but ATLUS gives really great things to their fans, things reminicient of old pre-order goods. They don't have to do that, but they have and continue to do so in an industry that as almost all but abandoned that.

So yeah, thanks ATLUS for making the great games I love, even if they are really niche. Also, thanks for the artbooks and CDs. They are so cool...! x )

So yeah, any company or people, or anything game related you are thankful for? Write so below : )

Thanks to Microsoft for Xbox Live and making online gaming on consoles a real and running thing.

Thanks to Naughty Dog for TLOU.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Thanks to Monolith Soft for making Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Getting hyped for it every day.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'm thankful for the high quality of content that many smaller studios are outputting in today's market. It used to be that the divide between large developer and "indie" was night and day. Now, though, we're getting games from small teams that are being talked about all over the place. It is nice to see.

I am thankful for localization companies that help bring over niche titles that would never get to play otherwise.

I'm so thankful for all the fan support that helped make Zero Time Dilemma happen.

Obviously Miyamoto, without him gaming would not be where it is

I'm thankful to Nintendo for Wii Sports. Without it, my parents would have never bought us a videogame console, they thought the Wii was a fitness machine, and I didn't spoil the surprise to them XD

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Thanks to Ninty for making motion controls mainstream. Absolutely loved them and still do; if it weren't for Ninty, it'd remain a failed project (pseye).

Thanks to Sony for pushing VR so hard. It's a dream come true for me and it has the potential (on ps7 or something) to be greatest step in video game history (SAO, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon like game, etc).

Thanks to Sony also for pushing 3d in video games. I know it failed and all, but Motorstorm Apocalypse was one of my favourite gaming experiences ever.

I am thankful to Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). My childhood was awesome. Have so many priceless memories.
