Game of the Year 2015: MGS5 or Bloodborne?

Metal Gear Solid 5 of course! 99 27.73%

100 % Bloodborne! 180 50.42%

Both games incredibly, can not decide 25 7.00%

see results 53 14.85%

Total:357

I've put in over 20 hours into MGS5. The game and its mechanics are great but everything else (map/ story/ characters) is quite forgettable. The story is slow paced and far too stretched out. I have very little motivation to fire it up but I once I do I clock in 2 to 3 hours and then abandon it for weeks.
That said I also have Bloodborne, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. I expect great things and may begin once Im done with the Uncharted Collection. That said my current GOTY is the Witcher 3, its the most engaging game I've played in a while. I loved every single second of it. Its expansion was pure gold and felt like a real f@#king expansion (12+ hours of extra content). I never stop playing unless I have to go to bed, go to work or leave the damn house.
Once I finally play Bloodborne and Fallout 4 Ill be able to give my own final judgement.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Super Mario Maker is easily better than those two games.

Out of curiosity, how much time have you spent playing Bloodborne and Metal Gear Solid 5? Did you beat both of them? What was your favourite or least favourite stage/mission? I haven't played MGS5 or MM so I see no point in calling Bloodbrone the best.

I've beaten MGS5 and I've played Bloodborne at a friend's. I've never been a fan of From Software's games and Bloodborne is more of the same. In SMM I can play/create easy, moderate and hard levels if I want. In Bloodborne you're forced into the frustration the developer decided for you. It's such a limiting design choice, while I prefer the design choice of giving everybody what they want: easy, moderate and hard levels. SMM can be enjoyed by both hardcore and casual gamers while Bloodborne cannot. That is also the reason why it will easily outsell it despite being on a console that is considered a commercial flop.

Thanks for the reply.

I have to strongly disagree with the bolded, though. Take away the Mario name or have the game be developed by a talented developer such as Platinum and you'll most likely have a flop. We all know how well first party Ninty games with certain well known Ninty characters do on Ninty consoles so the sales are not necessarily a reflection of the game's difficulty or modes. Little Big Planet 3 offers something similar (it can be enjoyed both by casuals and harcore gamers) and it's not doing that well. It's also a really good game.

Hardaware sales never stopped Ninty games from selling well, they only helped them when the instalbase was huge (e.g. wii and Mario Kart)

Also, i honestly can't picture myself playing Bloodborne at a friend's place, unless that friend is away and I can turn off the lights, use headphones and fully immerse myself into the game. How far did you get? Did you get any help or did you beat several bosses on your own? Part of the fun is discovering how to beat a boss and getting scared from a monster that attacks you. The fear of dying with a progress of over 45 minutes is the best part of the game for me. Because of that, it's easily the scariest game I've ever played.

Why I can't choose none of those two?................

interesting poll result ^^

fallout has a chance, but 100 % no other game this year. MGS5 vs bloodborne vs witcher 3 vs fallout 4.

its officall now: Worldwide reviews, meta:

Metal Gear Solid 5 > Bloodborne > Fallout 4.

My first post has a update now.

Doesnt Witcher 3 also have 93 on Metacritic ? To me Witcher 3 is hands down the best game since The Last of Us. Btween Bloodborne and Metal Gear I prefer Bloodborne.

The fact that mgs v is the highest scoring game, over the witcher, bloodborne, etc... is insane and to me, shows just how stupid metacritic is. I've seen more people talk about how disappointed they were in it, including me, than there are people who rave over it. Mgs v, the most over rated game on meta this year. I'm hoping a game that deserves to get game of the year gets it. The witcher, bloodborne, or maybe fallout 4, or hell, even halo 5. Mgs v is a turd, and does not deserve game of the year, in my humble opinion.

I said in my opinion, so before anyone jumps me for what I said about mgs v, please dont. It is an opinion, my opinion.

They are dispointed as metal gear fans, but looking obejectivley it is one of the best games this year

Two of the most overated games in recent times. Bloodborne can get away with it cause its niche + Weebo combo, but MGS5 is inexcusable that the reviews are that high. Rubbish boss fights, rubbish campaign, rubbish story, rubbish missions, rubbish game design and a complete waste of Keifers talents. Most repetitive and recycled game I have ever played.

So recycling the Halo 5 boss 7 times was okay for you i remember reading in another comment? I think its always funny hearing people always complaining about the lack or mediocore bossfights in mgs5 but forget that almost 90% of games these days have no bossfights at all, including the last of us for example which is considered best game from last gen..

Fallout 4 because it's modable, expansive and I generally prefer and love the nuclear wasteland setting than what the other two offer.

For me it's Fallout 4>MGSV>Bloodborne
