Forums - Nintendo - About next Nintendo Direct

I'm still not sold on the Wii U successor releasing next year. If NX does come out next year, then I think it is solely the 3DS successor. Despite how it may look right now, Nintendo could easily get Wii U through all of 2016 with a decent slate, and I think they will with these games :

Star fox
TP HD
Pokken
Pikmin 4
SMTxFE
Zelda U

And either or both a Paper Mario or Animal Crossing for Wii U wouldn't surprise me either.

Because, if the NX is the fusion concept in the end, both the console and the handheld will be inexorably connected. So if thats the case, they will need to launch togheter, or at the very least few months apart. But we will need to wait for E3 to see that.

Basically, whole point of fusion and unified platform would be lost if they release them with one year gap, in worst case they need to release them with only few months gap, but ideal and most effective for whole idea is to release them in same time.

The point of a unified platform would only be lost the handheld was simply the home console's controller. If the whole unified console means that the same games will release and can be played on both consoles with online being cross platorm as well, releasing a year later won't really affect that.

I want it this week. Maybe tomorrow. Please give me Zelda, Nintendo. Screw TPHD. I want the new shit.

I'm sure we will get both TP HD and Zelda U next year. They have a habit of releasing a remaster the same year a new entry comes out (i.e. OoT 3D and SS in 2011, TWW HD and ALBW in 2013, MM 3D and Triforce Heroes this year, etc).

TP HD is probably close to done and a Q1 release though, so expect to see it for sure at this direct. Can't say the same for ZU unfortunately. I personally wouldn't expect to see it this direct since I believe they are saving the big "re-reveal" for more of an event setting.

You don't get it. I don't care if TPHD comes out first. I just want to see the new Zelda in more than just an offscreen gameplay presentation. It's been to long. We don't even know how the sword play is. I just want to see Link fighting in a dungeon for a few minutes, and end it with a title and "coming in 2016." That's literally all I need. Direct feed footage, a release window, combat, and a flipping name. TPHD can come out tomorrow for all I care. I don't even like that game very much and I'd still buy it. But I want Zelda U info. That's all.

I know, but I'd say it's extremely unlikely at this new direct. Quite honestly I don't expect to see it again until E3 (yep, I think they are really going to hold off that long).

I doubt that there will be a ND any time soon. Perhaps after E3, but I think Nintendo will wait for a major announcement before making a new Direct.

Don't expect anything from this direct seriously! You will only be let down. This is just going to be about holiday games for Wii U and 3DS Nothing new or cool will be shown. Maybe a price cut for Wii U. And it will probably mainly focus on 3DS.

I don't think there is any chance of pikmin 4 coming to wii u.

Wasn't it already confirmed for wiiu?

No, Miyamoto just told Eurogamer in July that Pikmin 4 is very close to completion.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-20-pikmin-4-in-development-and-very-close-to-completion

So if it's very close to completion what's it releasing on then? 3DS?

Thats one of main reasons why people thinking that is for Wii U. I having hard time imaging Pikmin on handheld.

"Here is handheld that is part of our revolunationaly new unified platform, but you will not be able to enjoy possibilities of this completly new platform till next year til we don't release another part of this platform (home console), please be exited!?"

Best possible effect for platform like that would be to release it in same time, not mentioned same launch time, same marketing, same launch titles, basically same platform with 2 hardware variants. And thats is what exatly Nintendo is aiming for.
