I think you missed most of those peoples' points. They were saying that if you are going to call SMM a filler until NX is released, then all games after it must also be fillers. That is, these people aren't saying XCX is filler, they are saying that the people calling Super Mario Maker filler are calling XCX filler.
And I don't know if SMM was filler so much as planned out as a mid level game like Hyrule Warriors. The timing makes sense.
SMM is the best game on the Wii U. If that's what filler looks like, give me more.
