Forums - Nintendo - It's sad but true: Super Mario Maker is only a filler to hold us over until NX

Mario Tennis screams filler more than Super Mario Maker

agreed. although  some do love the Mario Tennis IP (along with Golf, Soccer, Baseball, etc.). I like Mario Tennis.. but considering the difficulty (or lackof) to make a Mario Tennis game, I do agree it is much more a filler type game

Mario Maker is pretty unique and tons of fun

I have a theory on this, considering how badly Nintendo is promoting Wii U.  Technology wasn't around and price range wasn't near what Nintendo wanted things to be in 2012.  I'm detouring.

If Mario Maker is filler, Nintendo filler is magnificent.

It's not that the Mario Tennis series is filler. In fact, Mario Tennis on N64 had an above 90 on metacritic. Its just the Wii U one lacks so many options compared to the previous games.

So what determines if a game is a big title? Budget size?

Which games do you think get the biggest budget?

Oh please, there is an old comment when you clearly say something like "I only buy consoles for zelda, everything else is a plus", I have my reason to believe everything else is a filler for you XD

And Btw, as much as I love Yoshi´s Wooolly World, between SMM and Yoshi, if someone is a filler is Yoshi. I don´t think any of those are fillers though, Mario Party 10, AC Amiibo festival, Mario Tennis Super Smash, AC Happy Home Designer, all those are the fillers.

Again, SMM is no more a filler, but look at the original intended release date. Hell, almost nobody was hyped for it. Everyone was like "woah Zelda! woah Star Fox! woah Xenoblade!"

SMM was just, there, to have a good lineup, but the big guns were other ones. Basically, a filler. Now, in the end SMM was the big gun, but not because it was planned as the biggest game this year, but because other were delayed or ignored.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I just find it sad that in today's game world, a game can be considered filler because it is 2d and not "grand" like GTA or some other big western game. The game is great, offers many hours of gameplay, and tons of replayability. It's definitely not filler. Mario Tennis Smash Ultra or whatever, now that is clearly filler since it seems to have been very rushed and is apparently lacking content from previous entries in the series.

Hi

Around the Network

I haven't played it for almost two weeks, maybe more. I was pretty dissapointed with it. I just want shy guys. And boss rooms. And so many things that the game doesn't have.
I wouldn't say it's a filler, but I remember I read somewhere some interview where they said they were thinking about introducing some things from other franchises. People started hyping (is that a word?) about the possibility that items from other games like donkey kong, zelda and so on could appear in SMM, even enemies! :O
That, would have been so awesome! Or at least they could have put more Mario enemies in. I just find the game a little bit lacking on content. Sure, you can play 4 modes, but this games needs so much more.

Also on topic, I find Zelda triforce heroes more filler than this, or AC wii u. If they did a new zelda using LBW assets as a OOT/MM kind of way it would have been so much better than that game. I'm a huge Zelda fan and I don't plan to buy it anytime soon, I'll just pass.

NX isn't coming out in 2016. Nintendo has already said they are in no hurry to replace 3DS, and NX is most likely a hybrid platform. If it isn't, at this point, I'd be surprised, and even a bit disappointed.

Zelda U is not "filler", and that's coming out next year.

Same happened with Splatoon, if people didnt had great expectations for them that´s another story, but it does not make them fillers. They may have looked like fillers at the beginning (I always though Splatoon would be big though), but they showed they were nowhere near to that category once they were released.

Kinda true. I found it to be a period for Nintendo learned how to develop HD games.

That's not an answer to my question.
