Mario Tennis screams filler more than Super Mario Maker

In this thread, people not only believes a filler is a "bad game" (a point that the OP was not mentioned by any means), but also they have the guts to compare Xenoblade X or Illusory Revelations #FE to MPFederation Force, Amiibo Festival and Triforce Heroes.

And I agree OP. Super Mario Maker was a filler in a good 2015 lineup in between big guns like Zelda and Xenoblade X. In the end, it became the big holiday game.

For you absolutely everything except your mainline AAA Zelda game is a filler.

And in a post before I mentioned also Star Fox and Yoshi. And there are of course Mario Kart8, Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario 3D World.

Maybe you should read more before being so defensive.

In my opinion, filler is a small or not "so important" game to fill gaps between big games that are not planned way before release. For example, some big guns for Wii U are Yoshi Wolly World or Xenoblade X that were announced since January 2013. On the other hand, Amiibo Festival looks like something done in a few months and that is done to fill gaps between bigger releases. Just like Mario Tennis Ultra Smash.

I agree with the OP on calling Super Mario Maker a "filler" because that was the original plan. I mean, the game was supposed to be between releases like Yoshi, Star Fox, X and Zelda. And this is only a level editor.

In the end, this game got a lot of effort put in and became big, just like Splatoon, which I'm sure Nintendo never expected to be that big.

I don't think Nintendo ever expected Yoshi's Wolly World to outsell Mario Maker so that would make YWW the small game of the two.

And they didn't expected Splatoon to be so big, or Wii Sports Club or Wii Fit U to bomb so hard. It doesn't matter because it is a big game.

Metroid is a big game and sells around 1M, maybe less than a MP game.

But in the end, isn't everything just filler, waiting for the next console?
Is life just filler, waiting for it to end and to move on?

Thanks for blowing my mind....... lol

Oh please, there is an old comment when you clearly say something like "I only buy consoles for zelda, everything else is a plus", I have my reason to believe everything else is a filler for you XD

And Btw, as much as I love Yoshi´s Wooolly World, between SMM and Yoshi, if someone is a filler is Yoshi. I don´t think any of those are fillers though, Mario Party 10, AC Amiibo festival, Mario Tennis Super Smash, AC Happy Home Designer, all those are the fillers.

mario maker is definitely not filler, just look at the marketing budget. Xenoblade is also not filler given the amount of time and money spent to make it.

Everything else (metroid soccer, amiibo crossing, mario tennis, starfox, pokken tournament, project treasure) they all seem like filler. They are all certainly far from ambitious within their franchise (let alone genre), and some of them are just rushed/look poor

sure and uncharted 4 is just a fillat for ps5

So what determines if a game is a big title? Budget size?

Signature goes here!

Mario Maker is pretty awesome and wonderful in terms of the content and gameplay hours it provides. I mean just look at how many people are still actively into it after months

if thats 'filler' then I'm afraid 'filler' might be better than regular things. Mario Maker is arguably one of the best games to be released on the Wii U
