I think Nintendo utterly failed at everything they wanted to do with the Wii U, including satisfying current Wii U owners. Mostly because the Gamepad was a stupid idea.

I say it was a great idea and I'm currently very satisfied. The people who are not satisfied with the Wii U are the peopke who don't own one.

The Wii U is what happens when you make a Gamecube 2 and not the true sequel to Wii.  Also the  wii had better games than the Wii U. That's why it sold better. *

*Yes I know sales= quallity is not completely true however sales are the BEST way to measure a game's quality.

Actually Wii U is completely and totally new console in every way, while Wii was basically GameCube with Motion Controls.

Of Course Wii didn't sold better because better games (Wii U also have great games and at end probably will sold around 7x worse than Wii). Wii is completly difrent story than Wii U, Wii had affordable price, very strong launch titles, and most imported very strong "gimmick" that bring ten of milions casuals to gaming. Wii U basically done all that opposite and lotsa a more things wrong, like marketing and name..

No

"Actually Wii U is completely and totally new console in every way, while Wii was basically GameCube with Motion Controls."

The Wii U was not new in anyway. What they did is made a Wii HD and grabbed a regular controller and put a screen on it.  The Wii on the other hand was going trying to change gaming. The Wii was to use motion controls to change how we play games.

FPS? Use the pointer to aim.
Strategy? Use the pointer to move things, (This could even make PC like strategy games  work)
Racing? Use the wheel to make it seem like you were really driving.
Boxing? Have you played punch out? Good use of motion controls
Sports? Wii sports and those golf and tennis games say yes they work very well.

Do they all work flawlessly? Of course not. However that is not the point. The Wii was trying to change the game. Start something new and improve from there. Wii U is currently not doing this. Nothing about Wii U screams "revolution". The gamepad hinders more games than benefit. So why do I believe that the Wii U is Gamecube 2 and not Wii? Easy. The Hardcore.

During all of 7th generation while the wii was being sold out the Hardcore were mocking Nintendo for not making a "real console". (Whatever that means) The Hardcore said that Nintendo abandoned them after the Gamecube. However the last time Nintendo catered to the Hardcore it ended badly. (Which was the Gamecube) The Wii was not designed for the Hardcore. The Wii was to make  gaming Mainstream and expand it. Nintendo's mission was to make gaming for EVERYONE. Including the elderly and adults who never played games.  So after being sold out for 3 years? How does Nintendo respond?

They make the Gamecube 2

The Wii U was designed for the hardcore. How can someone not see it? Pikmin 3, Nintendoland, All those 3rd party ports, All those Platinum Games and Wind waker. All of those are Hardcore. What games were not Hardcore? Mario bros WiiU and Mario Kart 8. (Smash 4 is sorta in the middle)  What are the best selling games? The Non-Hardcore games. That's why the Wii U is selling so bad. Because it was designed for the Hardcore. When Nintendo design games for the Hardcore their sales fall. Examples are SNES,N64,GC and now Wii U.  If Nintendo wishes to sell good again they will  have to look at the Wii and NES on how to expand gaming.

Oh and the Wii does have better games. Sure there are ports on the Wii U but ports are not what is going to sell the system. Most of Nintendo's games either have a superior prequal on Wii or not on the Wii U at all. There are exceptions but not many.

Edit yes I know the Wii series is on the Wii U however lets all be honest they are either inferior or not worth buying an entire system for.  Unlike the Wii series.

I'd say they are rare. From what I have been reading most Wii U owners love the system.
