Forums - Gaming Discussion - More Vita Games than 3DS Games

And that's why quality is more important than quantity. The poor Vita is the perfect example of it!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Quality over quantity

So many games yet I can't find a store here that's selling them (or the system). Anyway, problems with those lists have already been pointed out. Useless comparison.

Well Vita has a bunch of quality titles, the problem with its library is more about games with mainstream appeal, a large percentage of games on Vita are very niche or ports of titles that are already on devices with large install bases and a lot of its big exclusives were overshadowed by bigger/better installments releasing on consoles around the same time. For example, Uncharted: Golden Abyss released around the same time as Uncharted 3, Killzone: Mercenary released around the same time as Killzone: Shadow Fall, Assassin's Creed: Liberation released around the same time as Assassin's Creed 3, Call of Duty: Declassified released around the same time as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I'm surprised I haven't seen the counter-thread "More Wii Games than PS3 Games" yet.

I can smile and nod my way through the whole "Vita has so many games" meme. But I wonder about the self-awareness of people who spent the last generation decrying the Wii for its abundance of shovelware, yet who are now adamant that everyone should respect Anime Adaptation 2: Pantsu Boogaloo because it represents a tally mark on the all-important Number of Games counter.

But 3DS has more demakes, therefore it's better.

Salty as always. And lying big time.

Majora´s Mask, Ocarina of time and Star Fox 64 are all superior in 3DS in almost every way to the original, so how are those "demakes"?

However Psvita is full of downgraded multiplatform games that run like shit. Have you take a look to RE: Revelations 2? Or Borderlands? Or Disney Infinity 3.0? Or almost any multiplatform game on Vita? What is really the "demake" console here?

A lovely case of pot calling the kettle black.

More is always better than less and quality is subjective. In other words, it depends on the person, granded that that person actually looks at the titles from a gamer's perspective and doesn't call everything on the console he doesn't like "shit".

They run like shit, and that is a fact, nothing subjective and nothing about perspectives, those 3 games that I mentioned run like shit on PSVita, they are heavily downgraded and have a terrible framerate (some of them are a complete disaster, Revelations 2 is a shame of a game on PSV), take a look to them, and they are only a little show of what is almost a trend in multiplatform games on PSV.  But I guess I have not a gamers perspective because I can see when a game runs like shit ...

Man I love your facts, I'll bet the frame rate in the non existant port of Disney Infinity 3.0 really is a let down.

I would also point out that Borderlands 2 is on the Vita not the first game, but I'd rather you stick to just talking about the Weak port of Disney Infinity the Vita has. Wouldn't mind some gameplay footage if you got it from your copy?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Guys just let the PSVITA win this one. It gotta look good on something.

Sucks that the memory cards were sooooo expensive when it released. Bad decisions from Sony. The software and hardware sales could have been better if they were just kind on the memory cards.

2.0, my bad. They all look the same to me and it was out on vita just few months ago, wich is quite confusing since 3.0 was out recently too.

Not heard of Danganronpa, Ys Celceta, Freedom Wars, DJ MAXX, Gravity Rush, WipeOut 2048, Tearaway, Lumines ES, LittleBigPlanet, Demon Gaze, Muramasa (best version) Soul Sacrifice, New Little King's Story, Toukiden, Tales of Hearts R, Orishiki, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Killzone Mercenary. Yada yada without any digital only content.

Do any of those games even sound remotely as iconic or good to you than the ones I mentioned? I have never heard of some of these games and a lot of these games bombed (and userbase can't be an excuse if you look at Tearaway: Unfolded's performance). The only game on my list that bombed was Viewtiful Joe. You can't seriously think that list equals mine in terms of critic/mainstream reception, popularity, longevity, sales, influence and impact in the gaming industry. I only mentioned one port (Soul Calibur II) because it has Link in it and it is one of my favorite franchises. I also forgot about Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Star Wars Rogue Leader. Not saying your list of games is bad, but learn to pick your battles I'd say!

Add in the "plus" enhanced ports and it has a handheld lineup without peer.

Man the Vita lineup is untouchable for diversity in the handheld arena.

Doubt it if that lineup was the best you could come up with.

Hey if your list is allowed ps2 games, let's chuck Final Fantasy X, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Sly Cooper and God of War in too.

What PS2 games are on my list? Resident Evil 4 was built for the ground up for the GC and later ported to the PS2 (with inferior quality). 13 of the 15 games I mentioned aren't on the PS2 and the other two games are superior on the GC. And I know quite a few good multiplatform games I can still mention: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, SSX Tricky, SSX3, Prince of Persia: the sands of time, etc.

Including games like FF X and GoW is like including the Zelda collecter's edition for the GC which includes OoT (+ Master Quest) and MM.

More importantly for me though is the definitive portable Need for Speed, FIFA, Assassins Creed, Borderlands, Disagaea, Warriors, Rayman WRC, Moto GP etc. But I play a lot of games on the go so the ability to play them means a lot more. I do think the Vita exclusives will be a lot more fondly looked back on though just like the Dreamcast catalogue is now.

People aren't going to remember those games for their Vita ports.

Always interesting to note that the Vita Catalogue is compared against all systems, whilst the 3DS catalogue is held up purely against handheld releases. If it wasn't, pretty much every notable 3DS title would be disregarded due to superior home console versions of games. The Nintendo double standard remains strong.

3DS has many games that are built for the ground up for the system and thus there are no superior home console versions (with the exception of Super Smash Bros. 4). Your argument makes no sense. Oh and I'll take ALBW over Skyward Sword any day of the week if that's what you mean. I'm sorry but the Vita won't be remembered like the GC, I don't believe that for a minute. I think it's Nintendo's best home console (I never owned a NES or SNES though). It had better third party support than even the Wii imo.

Okay this quote tree is going to get ridiculously huge. You're completely missing the point I'm making and saying "it didn't sell well" and "I've not heard of it" are not actually the arguments you think they are. Let's just come back in 15 years time.

I guarantee you'll start seeing articles questioning why the Vita never got the traction "it deserved" similar to the nostalgic look backs on the Dreamcast now.

You mention sales, you do realise how pitiful games like Jet Set Radio, Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia sold don't you? Now they are fondly looked back on with desires up successors. Just as you have not heard of games like Danganronpa (which shame on you! to be quite honest though it does explain your ignorance as to what the Vita catalogue offers) the Vita has a fair few titles that will be looked fondly back on.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Ah, finally something interesting.

It's funny to see on this topic a lot of "Quality over quantity" but no one said "quality over popularity".

Psvita has quantity AND quality, it just miss the popularity.
