I absolutely loved the 3 games Spector mentioned. You want to tell me that most story based games don't drive players down a certain path? I love the story, it's most of what i care about in games.

Every game is pre scripted no matter how many choices you have.Its a video game after all.Funny thing is Uncharted has been hiigher rated and sold more than Deus aex because of the story telling.Deus Ex lacked several things like good shooting mechanics, physics and tight controls.I felt the last Deus Ex was disappointing story wise and you did not have much interaction with the game's world making it feel quite limited for the type of game it was.Also the stealth was horrible and not matter what you always ended up in a shootout.

Ironically Deus Ex has always been designed similar to a movie and the new game pushes even more in that direction.

Welp, I don't think Uncharted is the same kind of game of Heavy Rain to begin with...

Which he has no right to complain about since he hasn't done anything good with storytelling in forever. He comes off arrogant and has a superiority complex.

Resonates a lot with my views but I also have a fondness for old point and click adventures. I didn't get into walking dead or heavy rain but there's certainly room for a range of game styles.

I think lack of variety and unwillingness to risk being different are the issues with many aaa games. To tackle that we probably have to address the issue of people not talking a chance and buying games they might not like.

You get Deus Ex was made a long time ago, right? I wouldn't consider games like epic Mickey to have anything good with storytelling.
