Exactly. It actually pisses me off a little when people says that this game is niche for whatever reason and wont do good for even worse reasons.Sure, its their opinion, bit still pisses me off.

And yet, this game (almost) won't do anything for the Wii U IMO. It's not a system seller, it's completely unknown for the broad audience, and without a huge marketing push it won't do great numbers. And that's not against Nintendo at all. I wouldnt even be optimistic about Persona 5's sales without the marketing it has and the PS4's leader position, so XCX on Wii U... Mario Maker is a better system seller, mainly because it targets the usual Nintendo audience IMO.
That's the fate of JRPGs without FF or DQ notoriety (and stilll without marketing, right audience and leading console) for me.

Concerning if it will sell Wii U, I mostly agree with you. Most people who would buy the system for this game already bought it, and its also probably people that would have bought the system anyway because of the mario, zelda, pikmin games.
But I think this game will seel very well.Sure, it wont do Mario kat 8, FF or DQ numbers, but it will do very well.Im very confident that it will do at the very least 1 million, with more than 2 million being a real possibility.I say this because this type of game creates a very loyal type of fan, so most likely most of the fans of the original will buy this game. Not only tht, but the original sold 1 million without any kind of marketing, and being a gamestop exclusive, while X is having marketing(even if not in Splatoon levels), is more known because of the first game and Shulk inclusion in Smash, and the general hype that Nintendo created for this game through Directs and appearances in events like E3 and gamescon.People are heavily underestimating this game.
