Forums - Gaming - So what's your ideal length for a $60 "triple a" retail game?

The perfect game length

less than 5 hours 2 0.78%

5-10 hours 17 6.64%

10-20 hours 101 39.45%

Over 20 hours? 83 32.42%

Over 9000!! (aka infinite replay) 8 3.13%

Jeez, I don't know. I just want to have fun. 45 17.58%

Total:256

MP shooter games are worth the 60 bucks for me usually since I play them for hundreds if not thousands of hours. Easily making them worth their 60 dollar price. (Halo, CoD, BF, Titanfall, etc...)

20 hrs is totally fine with me. Anything longer is also appreciated.

Though if it's an MP only game then it depends, I take the communities surrounding the game and the server uptime into account for that game type since communities can come and go pretty fast and servers sometimes close a lot earlier or last less than 5 years, I mean I don't think getting just 20 hrs is good for an MP games so I;d expect hundreds more hours over the years.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

As long as it's good.

Depends on the game. I'd glady pay 60 for a one-hour experience if it is damn amazing.

Depends on genre. Halo 5 campaign took me about 10 hours and I need to go get the skulls still. The MP I will put at least 100 hours into. So that's far worth the value.

But if there is no multiplayer and the campaign is not at least 12 hours, you are foolish for paying $60. That is $5 an hour and even 12 is a bit low.   Nothing is wrong with that, but if the game is not mind blowingly amazing, the devs will think they can just get away with that if its what people will pay.  That is not a good thing.

Replay value >>>>>>>>>> length

I dont agree with that statement.

Alot of games I play, I only do so once, but I enjoy takeing my sweet time about it.

Differnt strokes I guess.

The game has to be a fun and awesome adventure. I don't care how long that lasts. Some games I play for 2 hours, others for 300 hours. It's not about the size, but how much fun I can have with that short or giant thing.

For example: Pikmin 3 is freaking amazing, even though it's very short (or shorter than expected). Twilight Princess is, I guess, pretty long, but the first 5 hours are like watching paint dry.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Depends.

I like longer games though and i play very few MP's nowadays.

Halo 5 would've been to short for 60€ if it wasn't one of those i actually play online.

Replay value is a thing, but you can have longer games with replay value too.

If open world I expect 20+ hour with sidequests. If linear then I expect 7-8 hour single player and multiplayer. If multiplayer then needs enough contents to cross 50+ hour.
