Forums - Gaming - PC Is Still A Very Important Platform For Electronic Arts, Almost As Profitable As Each Current-Gen Console

Yeah I'm not seeing it, not from EA at least, last I checked they haven't done anything that was considered amazing for PC to be seen as being "important" to them.

I'm guessing Ubisoft will eventually come out with something like this again followed by MS and then WB, Capcom etc.

In short, the PC platform brought EA $184

Well, that's not impressive. ;)

BioWare has often been rather PC focused and their Star Wars MMO is making a lot of money (or it was, not sure about now).  The first Dragon Age was definitely a PC-centric game, though they did make the sequels more appealing to the console crowd.

Doesn't EA also go after the PC crowd with Battlefront somewhat?

I think PC is going to be bigger than Xbox One for a lot of the major publishers.

thats because they have their own platform origins

I don't doubt the MMO but it's hardly universally loved or toppling Fian Fantasy or WoW, it also had a very rocky start to boot.

Dragon Age was a PC centric game like Witcher was but from what I've actually seen through the eyars it;s getting more and more console focused (UI and all that).

EA sorta does, I mean yeah Battlefront Beta was pretty stellar in terms of peformance but they are still chargning out the ass for an MP only game with little to offer than the last two BF games and PC users definitely know this is a thing they arne't all 100% down with (I don't expect good sales for BF on PC at all tbh).

PC will definitely be bigger than X1 for some publishers but then we have publishers that don't really do all that much for them or do them wrong and turn around with statements like "Oh they mean a lot to us, truly they do" at random times. I mean back in 2013 we got a really really bad, universally panned Sim CIty, since then they've not really done much for that PC genre, of course they boasted about how much they made on the mobile version but since then they've not really done much in terms of PC only focusing. Their main focus afaik for the longest time is sports, shooters and multiplat titles. They used to be rgeat with some PC only genres and IP's like C&C but they dumped the sequel to C&C Generals 2 years ago and nothing has been mentioned since and the last game was 2010.

I know I'm coming off as cynical but I just don't see EA seeing the platform as being all that important to them, it;s like PR fluff to reel you in and make you feel like part of the crowd and then they ask you for £50 and promise they will give you the goods and then trip up when they come to give you them.

States that Origin has over 50m registered users.  I believe that involves even console users (not entirely sure but I believe you have to sign up for Origin account in order to play multiplayer on their home console games).  It would be nice to just see only PC stats for Origin and how many active accounts.  They tried to step up to Steam but they will never triumph.  They might as well just put their games on Steam.

I wonder when EA is going to bother with another crack at Sim city and C&C. Last C&C game was 5 years ago now and 2 years since the last failed attempt at Sim city. Sure doesn't sound like EA cares about PC gamers lol.

So, PC accounted for 12% of their revenue and that includes browser games? And we don't know how much of that is from browser games? Ok.
