Forums - Microsoft - RiseOfTheTombRaider: Microsoft confident in decision of releasing the game same day as Fallout 4

- Rise of the Tomb Raider releases November 10, same as Fallout 4

- Aaron Greenberg said the following about launching Tomb Raider the same day as Bethesda upcoming sequel to their popular franchise:

"not direct competitors per se"

- when it came to deciding the release date for ROTTR, Greenberg said:

"The challenge is that you have to look at the production schedule. You want to make sure that you don't rush the game so that it's not done or not of high quality,"

"That is always the number one priority. The challenge with Tomb Raider is if you go a week later you're against Star Wars Battlefront, if you go a week earlier you're against Call of Duty Black Ops III; you go two weeks earlier you're against Halo 5."

- waiting after the holiday season could be detrimental to the release of new Tomb Raider, said Greenberg:

"And then you go late and then you're like well, 'Does the consumer have money left to buy the game?' So there wasn't a better scenario for us except that was the week it wasn't going head-to-head against Call of Duty or Star Wars Battlefront,"

"We felt like the Fallout audience and game, while both fantastic games, they're not direct competitors per se. But it's two big, big titles launching at the same time and we hope people will buy both."

Do you agree with Greenberg that going against Fallout 4 was the best option for Rise of the Tomb Raider?

Do you think ROTTR could have a better fate when it comes to sales by facing some of the other releases?

Maybe another release date could have worked better?

What do you think?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

No!

Yes!

Maybe another release date could have worked better?

Surely not! Not!

What do you think?

I still don't know why they did that!

I'd just make some kind of excuse to push it into early December.

Should have been released in September. It just isn't big enough for a November release.

People will still buy it like they are likely to also buy Fallout 4.

Also Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void is also coming out globally on the same day as well, I'm more likely to buy Legacy than Fallout 4 anyway and then F4 at a later date and well for TR I have to wait months till MS decide to grace me with a late port.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Releasing the same day as Fallout 4 IS, no matter how you try to paint it, a mistake, though the game should sell fairly well regardless.

Yeah, it's like having the mentallity of "cramming lots of stuff for the holidays".

Tomb Raider isnt a big release?lol

To the matter at hand, yeah, they were screwed anyway they see it.Releasing alongside Fallout 4 will eat some of it sales, but i think it will sell extremely well regardless

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
