Verizon offers the best service

Bright House is next to them but I'm in dispute with them at the moment so go with Verizon if you can.

Comcast is the worst.

Blue Rabbit Satellite Internet is ok but not worth it.

AT&T is the worst. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T AT ALL COSTS.

My connection is pretty good during the day (around 3mbps) and slower than dial-up at night (24k, I swear)

must be where you live. mine has worked far nore flawlessly than when i had a Suddenlink cable line.

Of course I  6mbs down and 756kbs up.

Download and upload speed is not a factor. You need usually 10Kb/s in both directions to be just fine. What is going to make a difference is 1) Having a synchronous connection; A connection that can send and receive at the same time (FiOS, most DSL connections ( adsl and cable can only send or receive at the same time) ) and 2) A low latency connection which is pretty much anything except satellite.

If you are looking for something cheap, I would go with a low end DSL connection. If you do not mind price, then FiOS is the way to go.

I believe adsl can do full duplex at speeds of about 800k. That should be plenty fo gaming as it is the same, if not faster,  than most upload speeds anyway.
Also 6gb a month is not very much, by the time you download a few add ons you'll soon use it up.
