I thought of gameboy advance, sp, and color as under gameboy.

There are different hardware revisions among them, but the same could be said of the DSi/DS and the New 3DS/3DS

X = Ten

Nintendo Ten, as in their previous consoles.

GB, GBA, DS, 3DS, NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii and Wii U.

Nintendo will forge all ten (X) of these consoles as well as one other console to rule them all...the NX...duh.

No GBA was a separate generation, if we count that as Gameboy than 3DS is also DS.

well in that case, as someone pointed out, the 10 is for the 10 previous consoles.

Point is that the codename NX is most likely for something trivial as opposed to something meaningful.

Likewise, Nintendo (or any other company) would probably avoid having the codename give too much info away, in the event that it is leaked

Well it's too late for that now, isn't it? I mean it's pretty obvious that Nintendo's NeXt console will be a forgery of their previous ten consoles and then you need another console to rule them all. It just makes sense. How other people don't realize this when Nintendo has basically spelled it out in such obvious manner is beyond me. Get a grip guys...

So the Color TV-Game and Virtual Boy don't count.  Color TV-Game won the first generation of home console sales.  Not much can be said about the Virtual Boy except I wish I had one.

Of course they don't count you silly goose, otherwise it would be called the NXII. It just makes sense, ok?
